Review summary

This was not a cruise. Too cold on ship.. Loud noise chairs moving across the floor. Thought I was on high deck to not hear noise. Eating area was in front of ship. This was not good. Ship could not adjust temperature in cabin . Β The food selection was terrible. The cabin smell like urine. I had a suite but was a regular cabin. No refrigerator in cabin. Food was cold..πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”β˜ΉοΈπŸ˜¬πŸ˜¬πŸ˜–πŸ˜–

98% of the reviews for this ship have been very favorable. I did not have any issues but at muster station 6 there was always a sewer smell. I never knew if any cabins were affected.

I'm going on this ship for my honeymoon and I'm excited for the small intimate and relaxing this ship has to offer. To me the ports are to get off the ship and have fun filled days and the sea days are to relax, eat and do other fun things.

So what if the eating area was in the front??

I personally like the smaller ships for a relaxing cruise. What do you need a fridge for anyway? Been one 8 or 9 cruises and never felt like I need a fridge.

Just keep in mind Empress is the smallest and oldest ship. I wouldn't judge the whole cruiseline by it, anymore than I would write off Carnival Vista after only going on Sensation (which I loved but that's not always the consensus).

Been on 9 cruises, this will be my first on royal Caribbean, not sure what to expect now

It sounds like your room may have been right under the pool deck, unfortunately those rooms can be noisy. Did you read any reviews about the ship before you went? It's the oldest and smallest in the fleet, so it won't have a lot of bells and whistles. I've also noticed the smaller, older boats don't usually have refrigerators, but that's something you could have found out on boards like these prior to booking.
