Review summary
My wife and I just returned from a cruise to Bermuda on the Empress, just catching the tail end of Ernesto and just missing Florence. Our main complaints were generally a result of the small size and old age of the Empress, the oldest and smallest of the Royal Carribbean fleet. The bars, lounges, shops, and casino were simply smaller, not as impressive, and the decor not as modern as on newer ships. The one and only pool is very small, and the jacuzzi's were all closed for repair (as were both ice cream machines--I'm not sure what was worse). Our interior stateroom was especially small, even compared to interior rooms on other ships. Aside from the physical limitations, however, the food and service was exactly what you would expect, and the evening entertainment was rather good (although guest entertainers are subject to change week to week).Ports of call
Pros: Entertainers at evening shows
Cons: Size and age of ship
