We'll never book another Princess Cruise. Eight other cruise lines we've been on were way superior.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Took four hours of standing in line to board the ship. Princess says it was the Port's fault, but the the ship could have arrived earlier or departed later to properly accommodate those departing that needed to go through customers since arriving from Canadaa
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
All the food on board looks very appetizing and photographs very well.
Don't eat in ANY of the restaurants. Only eat at the buffet for every meal. It seems like none of the meats are marinated or have any fresh seasoning. Seems like most of the 11,000 meals served for 3,500 passengers are cooked ahead of time and sit on a steam table waiting to be served, over cooking, getting tough and losing all flavor. Even the desserts had no flavor. Vegetables were acceptable. So was the watery guacamole, which ran out often.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Every hour there is a trivia game. Bingo cost a lot of money to play.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We did see and show that had a good magician/comedian. We saw one stage show that lasted 45 minutes. The dancers were good; very impressive choreography. One performer was good, the others not so much.
Children's Programs
We had no children in our party
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Our room was serviced very well. The attendant was friendly and competent. He was the only one who was helpful. I never was able to have anyone fix my Medallion so it worked like it was supposed to. You can't see your account on the TV. It must be printed from a special machine. You can't print it if you Medallion doesn't work. I was told my statement would be delivered to my room; it never was. We only booked one ship's shore excursion. Our tickets were not delivered to our room. I had to stand in line to get duplicates printed. Before we boarded, we told Princess it was our anniversary cruise. A screen lit up as I passed by saying "Happy Anniversary" with my name only, not my wife's name too. This was never corrected when we informed them of the error.
Ship Quality

Our cabin was in the front. The buffet and most activities were in the back of the 951 foot long ship. Six elevators were out of service for the first half of the cruise. Often there were long wait lines to go from deck 7 (activities) to deck 15 (buffet)
Cabin / Stateroom

Not much of an obstructed view. We could see fine over the life boat outside our cabin. However, there is no room to open suitcases except the bed or one desk. We had to put the tiny table, a chair and a trash can together to support our second suit case, so we didn't have to soil our bedsheets from the outside of our luggage. The is a double decker shelf. the bottom part sits on top of the room refrigerator. Don't put chocolate on that shelf. The confined heat from the enclosed refrigerator will melt your chocolate.
Ship tip
Cancel your booking and choose another Cruise line. EVERYTHING is extra on Princess unless you spend $600 per person. The package includes Wi-Fi and drinks. Ala carte drinks are $13.00 each. We waited till we were on or near a port to use our cell phones. We bought six drinks on board and drank tap water. We refused to pay for bottled water or soft drinks which are NOT free
We didn't go to Peggy's Cove. We saw pictures online. That was enough. On our own we went to Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. Wonderful places to see and experience.
A little disappointed. Wasn't as quaint as we expected, but glad we went there. The part of the city we liked the best was of course the "Old Town" Glad to know we didn't need to speak French. All the "natives" spoke English and were very friendly
Love Princess. Of course if you spend zero time doing research and don't take advantage of the best package deal in cruising..Princess Plus...then you're responsible for your disappointment.
Wow. Research would have helped prevent a lot of your concerns. Been on multiple Princess cruises……never had the experience you described about the dining room. If you like another line…that’s good….hope you enjoy that one.
