Review summary

The itinerary was fabulous. Loved all clean stops. The Emerald Princess is old and outdated. The staff with the exception of the Cruise director team of Holly, Tanya, Josie, Philitha, JD and CS made our trip in the evenings so fun with hours of entertainment. The food leaves a lot to be desired. Limited menu choices and was not very tasty. There should have been more food related to the location. Sabatini was excellent should have booked them for other nights. Crown Grill is the same menu and is good. This was our first time near the back of the boat and it’s so loud when you come into port and leave wouldn’t stay in that location.

We enjoyed the trivia and game shows. Too cool for the pool.

Service and Staff

Staff not super friendly most couldn’t wait until their contract is done. Service was so slow in bars they were often just standing around talking to each other. Room steward was good always trying to please.

The common bathrooms were often broken and dirty. Seem to have less staff to maintain than. Layout is good.

Cabin / Stateroom

Size is great, the auto lighting is terrible for those who don’t like lights going on in the middle of the night. Cabin while outdated was clean. No charging ports available on both sides of bed.

Ship tip

Book more specialty restaurants. Expect main dining rooms to take 2 hours to eat.

Excellent fast and efficient until you got to taxi line.

I cruised on Emerald a couple of years ago and had a great time with great food. I suppose it's all perspective, but I always have a great meal in the MDR on all my Princess cruises, with little if any complaints, and dinner rarely went beyond an hour. I guess I just spend more time enjoying my cruises, rather than finding petty issues to complain about.
