Review summary

I cruised on the Emerald Princess and while it had its charms, there were some things to be aware of. The ship, though recently renovated, felt a bit dated compared to newer Princess ships. The main dining room was inconsistent - some meals were great, others just average. I ended up enjoying the specialty restaurants more, but of course, those cost extra. The ship itself also seemed to have more passengers than I expected, leading to some crowded areas, especially during peak dining times. Overall, it was an enjoyable cruise, but if you prioritize modern amenities, consistent dining, and a less crowded atmosphere, you might want to consider a different Princess ship.

Thanks for the review and it is spot on. Yes the Emerald is 16 years old so a refurbishment won’t change that. It will just feel like a nice 16 year old ship. The Emerald is a Crown Class which is the same length and width as the originally designed Grand Class but they added two more decks of cabins. So it will be way more crowded than the public areas were designed for.

I cruised on the Emerald in May. I thought the ship was nice enough, but certain areas seemed very crowded. I prefer the size of the Regal more.

I cruised on the Emerald Princess a few years ago and had a great time with great food and entertainment. Sure the ship is older, but she is in great shape and woukd definitely do another cruise on her if there wasn't so many other ships that would like to cruise on.

We did the Emerald Princess in December 2022 & it was great. Our dining staff was amazing & our room steward was awesome. Food was also great. We did a balcony dinner to celebrate our 50th anniversary & that was one of the most fantastic fabulous things we have ever done. But everything about this ship & cruise was one of the best.
