Review summary

Alaska is a must do cruise!! It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Save your money and book that verandah. Also an Alaskan cruise is to see Alaska and not to enjoy the ship. I will be back but to save money I might try a cheaper cruise line. The views are the same no matter what cruise line you are on.

Vancouver might be one of the prettiest ports I’ve ever sailed out of. Canada place is super gorgeous and within walking distance is the Olympic torch for a fun picture.

Service and Staff

I love rotational dining and the fact that your wait staff follows you from restaurant to restaurant. Also the room attendants are outstanding!

Ship Quality

Love the open deck on deck 4. Watching the world pass by on such a low open level is amazing! Also the entire staff no matter what their actual job title is always cleaning. A Disney cruise ship is one of the cleanest places I’ve ever been.

I’m normally an indoor cabin kind of guy but what they say is true. You need a Balcony/Verandah for Alaska.

Ports of call

Ketchikan, Alaska

Did a kayaking excursion. Booked not through the tour line. It was a fun trip where we saw lot of bald eagles and beautiful views!

Skagway, Alaska

Rented a minivan and drove into Canada. View is beautiful and we saw bears on the side of the road. Make sure you bring your passport because you can’t get into Canada without it. We also on the way back found a sled dog training camp. It was cheap for a quick ride on a cart with wheels to assist the dogs. We also got to play with the husky puppies worth every penny!

Juneau, Alaska

Tracy’s crab shack which is within walking distance of the port is delicious!!! The best crab I’ve ever had!! We also went whale watching here and saw a baby humpback do a full breach!! Talk about a core memory!!

Good thinking about a cheaper line for Alaska. You aren’t on the ship much and when you are you are viewing the outside rather than doing all the Disney stuff. Also an inside cabin is fine on Alaska if you go up on deck. Views from balconies may be good if you happen to be pointed the right way but on deck you can change views 360 to see the best stuff at the time. I’ve done both and wouldn’t pay much more for balcony. If you spend a lot of your cruise in your room then get a balcony of course.
