Review summary

Hundreds of passengers and crew were sick with the norovirus and food poisoning by the end of day two.  Disney used to be meticulous at cleaning and disinfecting if an outbreak occurred on a ship-- not anymore-- so the virus spread like wildfire across the ship.  Our entire family did not leave the ship in Nassau because we were all down with the virus.  By the last day, many of the hallways and cabins had sewage smell because so many people were sick and the plumbing was being overwhelmed.

We did manage to have three meals together as a family before we all got sick.  One of the main reasons we are return Disney Cruise guests is because of the food.  The food used to be great-- something you would tell your friends about.  Now, the food is mediocre at best (a couple steps above the mall food court).

Bottomline-- the Disney Cruise Line used to be great.  Definitely not worth your hard earned money.

Cabin has not been upgraded in many years. Clearly Disney Cruise Line is now okay with being mediocre in many areas.

sorry you got sick but one review about "everyone on board" being sick... probably not.

It's the ONLY one star review. Bummer your family got sick, but it happens.

I'm taking my 2nd cruise on the Wonder in 8 days. I'm also an RN. People are germ factories with children being the worst! That being said, washing your hands is the best thing you can do to prevent infection. I need to be vigilant in protecting myself. Buffets are iffy in a climate ripe for Norovirus, but I love a good buffet. 😛

OH that not good?

I shoulfd also add, our entire family starts an Airborne regime a few weeks before any vacation, every little bit helps but yes the germs are there and no matter what preventative measures you take, you can still get sick. Its a risk you take when being in small confined spaces with thousands of strangers.

My son got sick from the virus when we docked at Castaway Cay. We were confined to the room as well on the last night. I don't know how many or if others got sick. But the disease is easy to come by when you are on a ship with kids running around. And everyone getting on him needs to STOP! It's HIS review about HIS experience.

My daughter has cruised on many cruise lines and recently went on Disney Cruise. She was AMAZED at the cleanliness of the ship and has already booked a second cruise. Any time you travel in close quarters, you run risks of picking up viruses. But as stated earlier, wash hands and use sanitizers.

I agree, Disney is top notch as far as cleanliness goes. They are always wiping things down and handing out wipes at the entrance of every dining room including buffet rooms. My family is also very hypervigilant about germs when we cruise. I am constantly telling them not to use the hand rails on the stairs, hit elevator buttons with your knuckles not fingers. Use a napkin to grab the utensils at the buffet. Use the hand sanitizing stations when embarking at ports. Etc... If you drill these things into your heads it becomes normal habit/routine and makes a huge difference in germ prevention. We have sailed 4 times and knock on wood, no one has ever gotten sick.

Great comments teedah619, it's not like Disney wanted that to happen. Everyone should take personal responsibility of hygiene.

Thanks teedah!

Every time I am in a Disney ship they are always cleaning everything. They do a great job at cleaning Whenever you get in the ship or go to a restaurant they are handing out wipes. If everyone would wash their hand the virus would not happen. Disney has a better record than any other cruise line.If you check carnival, princess , and Royal they have this happen often.

Oh and by the way the food was extraordinary and not as this gentleman has stated.. Lol he is just bitter it seems.. Great food

I did see quite a few family's not partake in sanitizing their hands and other hygienic activities.. So in conclusion to anyone reading this.. The Disney cruise line has not had any incidents since 2002 and 1 behave review shouldn't be of any affect on your adventure.. safe sailings everyone I rate my adventure 5++ stars

I am sorry your family became ill but there is no need to talk negatively on about Disney cruise line and to put a damper on others spirits.. The Disney crew did a wonderful job in assuring everyone was safe and healthy.. I am not sure about your family but me and my family took every opportunity to use the many many hand sanitizing stations around the ship as well as in ports.. But I must say

Please do not lie sir.. Me and my family was also on board the Disney wonder at the time of the cruise to the Bahamas from the 27th of April until May 1st and we did not get sick in any way at all.. We were able to enjoy all of the adventures and luxuries the cruise had to offer including but not limited to snorkeling in castaway cay and swimming with the Dolphins in Nassau..

Has it been confirmed as norovirus? We sail on the Wonder in a month. I suppose that it will cleaner than ever now.
