Review summary

My family of 6 (3 adults/3kids) just returned from our trip to the Bahamas on the Disney Wonder. This is a great cruise for families with children. The Disney characters are all over the place signing autographs and taking pictures (expect to spend some money on the professional pics, they ALL look great). The kids program is amazing, they didn't want to leave, plus they keep them occupied making Flubber and cookies till midnight. And of course, when they announced they were premEARing the movie CARS on the ship, it was a plus. They have fireworks in the middle of the ocean (leave it to Disney to do that). Great food, very clean, nicely decorated, and the friendliest staff. But the best thing about it all had to be Castaway Cay, the private island, beautifull beaches, clear water, and the snorkeling lagoon provided everything I was looking for, especially on the deeper side: lots of fishes (hundreds actually, and big ones), the Mickey statue, sunken vessels, and yes... even barracudas. I have to say, we were one of the last families to get back on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Changing restaurants every day is fantastic, you get a new experience each day, from seafood, to French cuising to Caribbean. And they have an amazing Creme Brulee cheesecake at Parrot Cay.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great shows, not exactly Broadway quality, but Disney technology made them great. Pleased to see good shows every night.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
They take your kids, give you a pager and call you if they need you. What could be better than that? You're free to enjoy adult activities without guilt or concern for the safety of your children. They even have activities at Castaway Cay! And private beaches and program areas for teenagers, too! You'll have problems getting your kids outta there, they won't want to leave...

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Best service, even better that at the parks, REALLY! Our server Ralph, went to a different restaurant to get me the dessert I liked the day before.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Very clean ship, small elevators (6-8 people), small atrium, very small kids pool, considering it is a cruise for children. Very good waterslide, though. The 5th deck is mostly the kids program, with lots of games, and activities for fun.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Rooms look bigger on the computer layouts than in real life. It's nice to have the private curtain for the big bed. Very small bathrooms, at least we had 2 sinks to try to work it out.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

Go to Atlantis, it is gorgeous. Plus you get to see giant rays. Take a water taxi there, and pay for the tour of the aquarium, it's worth it. Blue Lagoon (from the movie) is also nice. Don't waste time at the Straw Market, too hot, too smelly, and they all have the same things. Get some Tortuga Rum Cake, you can taste samples and see them making it.
Don't Miss: Atlantis

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
In a few words... can I stay here? It's beautiful.
Don't Miss: The banana boat ride... might be too much for younger kids (my 8-year-old was crying) but it's a lot of fun.

Pros: Castaway Cay (the private island)

Cons: Some common areas were small, so it felt very crowded
