Review summary

A Disney cruise is an excellent getaway and excellent cruise. Disney staff provides excellent service and quality shows. Disney cruises are a little more expensive but worth it if you have the money.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent embarkation. We were some of the last passengers to board so we really had an excellent embarkation. No lines and no waiting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining rooms and public areas were clean. Upon embarkation, however, I found the outdoor areas near the buffet a little messy.

Animator's Palate

5 out of 5

Excellent. Loved the creativity of the "walls".

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I was able to participate in many of the family activities in the D lounge. Taking pictures with the characters where also awesome;it was a fast and smooth process. The best on-board activity was the Pirate Night with a Disney-style show and fireworks.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We loved the nightly shows Twice Charmed, Dreams, and Tangled. However, these were the same exact shows I saw in January 2016 when I sailed Disney for the very first time. For first-time Disney cruisers, these shows are EXCELLENT. Having already seen the exact same stage shows, I was a little disappointed. I wish Disney could have provided at least one new stage show for all that money that was spent on this cruise.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My kids loved the Vibe -- teen club. The kids said they were entertained for the entire length of the cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We received excellent service from housekeeping/room steward and our dining staff/waiters.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Layout and design was great. Common areas could have been better maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the Oceanview. The window was big and wide. We absolutely enjoyed the view from Deck 2.

Ship tip

Enjoy the magic. Spend quality time with your family. Make nightly meals a family event. It is truly a magical cruise for both the young and old at heart.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
The Port of Miami is always busy but embarkation on a Wednesday was quite nice (limited traffic). The parking garage, however, seemed to have filled quickly. I live in Miami so I did not do an excursion

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
This port was quite nice. The January weather was perfect in the 70s. We were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather and beautiful island. We were blessed with a perfect beach day and lots of food. Life really is a beach.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Excellent day in the Key West. The weather was perfect. Everything was easily accessible from the pier. We were able to just walk around and shop. Souvenirs was very inexpensive. We were able to purchase really nice souvenirs for less than $10.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Excellent disembarkation. We were able to exit the ship rather quickly.

Your correct and sometimes you get bit by the "D.C.B" Disney cruise line bug. Once your bit there is no cure but cruising 1 time or more per year helps with the symptoms!
