Review summary

This cruise was amazing but you certainly pay a premium for the Disney experience. If you are a Disney fan it’s well, well worth it. There are so many little touch points and details that, if you enjoy Disney, you will love.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy but we also paid the premium to use the Disney Cruise Line Transportation from the airport. That made it easy once we arrived at the terminal and we were able to avoid standing outside in the heat. That said, there was probably still a 30 minute wait to get through security and get onboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was, overall, really good. Cabanas is the buffet and, quite often, the food there was just as good if not better than the sit down restaurants. The three rotational dining restaurants were good, but hit or miss as far as quality. Fish, chicken, seafood and pasta all tended to be good but the beef/pork dishes tended to be underwhelming. We did splurge and go to Remy and that was a 2 to 3 Michelin star experience equivalent to what we’ve experienced in NYC. Highly recommend if that’s the type of experience and budget you are working with.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The cruise director was awesome and the shows were incredible. Lots of fun things to do on board, so much so that you’d be hard pressed to do everything.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage shows were incredible and a ton of fun for the kids.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
It’s Disney, so the kids spaces are going to be awesome. We only left our kids in the Oceaneers kids club during our time at Remy but they were begging to go back!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This is simply what Disney does best. The ratio of cast members to guests is like 2.5 to 1 so there is an extremely high attention to detail.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Awesome cabin, right sized for our family. Having the bunk beds that are prepared during the dinner hour is awesome as, during the day, you can utilize the couch for sitting. Our “host” was Concierge level even though we’re weren’t on the Concierge level. He just went above and beyond any chance he could!

Ship tip

You’re going to be up late at night each night if you truly want to experience everything. The firework shows, dance parties, and costume nights are all late (like 10pm). So I would recommend that most kids be 5 or older. Even so, it was a bit exhausting - albeit fun - being up late most of the cruise.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Cozumel was nice, but a typical port town.

George Town, Grand Cayman

1 out of 5
This port was good, and the Turtle Center was awesome! That said, having to wait for a boat to ferry you to and from the ship took more time than expected and cut the day down by a few hours.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Falmouth is a gorgeous port. The only downside is that you have to drive an hour or so to get to the falls and tubing. So that was difficult but our tour company was great (booked through United).

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
Simply amazing. Awesome in every way. Snorkeling is a must, but bring your own equipment because rentals are something like $37 for adults (mask, fins, life jacket).

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy but not we were sad to go!
