Review summary

The perfect cruise for families and children of all ages! Children were in age appropriate groupings for activities and there was a great mix of family activities. I have recommended this to friends who have young children. I found it fun and relaxing. I enjoyed the Christmas decorations and watching the characters interact with guests in amazing ways.

Embarkation

Despite long lines found everywhere, the Disney Fantasy was organized and efficient getting everyone on board in a timely fashion

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The dining rooms were so much fun. Rotating dining rooms while keeping your servers with you was a unique experience. My favorite was Animator's Palate, where we talked with Crush (AMAZING interaction) and drew our own characters that were then animated.

Vista Cafe

5 out of 5

As a coffee lover, enjoyed this cafe very much. Many choices and a coffee club card to use. I filled two while on board! Excellent services at the counter and if you were just sitting and people watching

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There were many activities on board geared to families which looked like fun. The Fantasy did a great job adding activities when at last minute we could not tender to Grand Cayman. Had great first run movies like Coco and The Last Jedi

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyed fantastic entertainment every day. Loved the stage shows and enjoyed the musicians and singers and entertainers

Walt Disney Theatre

5 out of 5

Comfortable, accessible and no bad seats from which to watch the entertainment

Children's Programs

I have no children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent across the board. In particular, the waiters were thoughtful about accommodating my mother's food allergy and made sure she was able to order ahead of time so the food was allergen free. Our Head Server, Coskun, went above and beyond in this area. In addition, one of the ship's officers, Lisa, made my husband's day when, after they spoke about ship statistics in general, Lisa printed out the stats for the Fantasy and found my husband to give this to him. He was over the moon about this and was a true highlight of his trip.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful!!! Loved the Christmas decorations and the art deco look of the atrium. The dining rooms were so detailed in their thems and it was fun to check out all areas of the ship. The public areas, including restrooms were spotless. I appreciated the work the ships' staff put into this

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the split bathrooms and double closets. We were not able to use the verandah as much as we hoped due to the weather and wind (we were in an aft cabin) We checked out the free videos available on the TV. The cabin was always spotless and we enjoyed the towel animals. The blanket figure of Davy Jones was a little startling but cleverly done. We did experience much more motion and noise in the stateroom due to it's location, but it did not take away from our enjoyment

Ship tip

Line up early if you want to get a photo with a character! Lines got long fast and not everyone was able to get the photo in the time provided. And just relax and have fun!!

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Didn't see more than the terminal so can't answer this well

Cozumel, Mexico

Generic Caribbean shopping available. Much jockeying to get people's attention in to their stores. Did not take a shore excursion. My husband loved the leather goods store as he needed a new belt (or two)

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Tenders unable to operate due to conditions

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Did not take a shore excursion but enjoyed the enclosed shopping area at the port.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
Fantastic place for families to play, swim, and do water sports. The BBQ lunch was excellent. As a person who has a disability and is prone to skin cancer, I did not enjoy the beach as much. Loved that there were wheelchairs that could go on the sand but they were difficult to move. My husband loved his shore excursion of a fishing trip

Disembarkation

Disney is a master at crowd movement. The lines were long and frustrating but two things were stand-outs: 1. doing breakfast by seating (early and late) and moving people from breakfast off the ship relieved much congestion that I have seen on other cruises and 2. The ability to have your bags checked straight from the ship to final destination like at the resorts was brilliant and a major stress reliever on the return home.
