Review summary

Our first Disney Cruise and what a magical experience!! The beauty of the ship, the staff members who are all so friendly and accommodating, the entertainment and the ports which are beautiful. What more could you ask for?? Enjoyed, enjoyed, enjoyed!!!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
For a first time cruise with Disney our embarkation was a pleasant experience. They have enough people working at check in to make the line almost non-existent compared to other cruise companies. Our quick access to board the ship with concierge level stateroom allowed the grandchildren early access to the tube slide before the ship got crowded. The greeting as you board by calling out your party name was a first also and my son-in-law can't stop talking about it!! Great job Disney1!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The rotational dining on Disney with wait staff traveling with you each night was a first as well and enjoyed by all!! Three different dining rooms so very unique as well. What a wonderful experience!!! The buffets were great as well with a lot of variety. Specialty restaurants we did not partake in as we were traveling as a family with children ages 9 - 13.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We all loved the tube slide on the ship - yet another unique experience. The children loved the kids activities which allowed the adults to have some adult time as well. Of coarse the pools were enjoyed as well. Having an area for adults only to swim and get some sun was another plus which avoided the pools with all the children.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the first two stage shows very much. The third one we felt not quite as good. The juggler / comedian was excellent. So glad we saw a preview the first night and then saw his whole show when he performed!!!

Children's Programs

My husband and I are grandma & grandpa but the grandchildren did partake of some of these activities.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room stewards Lawrence and Madhi (12020) were excellent, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. We so appreciated them and they found my husbands watch he misplaced in the room the same morning he informed them it was misplaced. The room was immaculate each and everyday!! Thank you so much for making our cruise more enjoyable with your charming personalities!! Our wait staff in the dining room Saul, Salva, and Ciao were also excellent. The service couldn't have been better!!! We were fortunate to have them and they also contributed to the Disney experience with their charming personalities!!! Thank you so much for a memorable experience!!! The Concierge team was first rate as well. We had most contact with Tawanda, Ashely and Michelle but the other staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. Any type of request made was magically taken care of. Top rate service and disembarkation was a breeze with escort service to get off the ship. So appreciate these people!!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Disney Fantasy Ship is absolutely beautiful and so very clean. Never saw an area that needed attention on the whole cruise!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This cabin is the most luxurious and comfortable cabin we have ever had on a cruise. Having two bathrooms was a plus even though there were only two of us. Our children and grandchildren were in 12014 and 12012 with the same layout and it was perfect having two bathroom with a family of four and five!!! The spaciousness of the room was amazing!! So comfortable you just sunk right in. Couldn't have been any cleaner as well!!

Ship tip

If you can afford the concierge level it is more than worth the money for the service and size of the cabin you get!!

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
First time in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Flew in two days early to relax and get used to time change before boarding the ship. No side excursion but family time together!!

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

I just got off and did some shopping but my children and grandchildren had the dolphin experience which was loved by all. Such an amazing hands on experience with the dolphins. Would recommend it to everyone from the pictures!!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Love that shopping is just off the ship in these ports!! My husband can't get on and off easily so it allows me to go out a shop a little. Children and grandchildren did the Catamaran Snorkel excursion although they said not enough time snorkeling.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
Castawy Cay is a beautiful Island and we so enjoyed. Swimming, snorkeling and slide activities!! A wonderful BBQ lunch provided off the ship on the Island. BBQ was wonderful!! Nice shops to buy memories from!! Floating devices to rent. Very nice indeed!!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Couldn't have been any easier. Escorted off the ship from Ahsley in the Concierge level!! First rate service all through the voyage!! Thank you again to all that took care of us!!!

desertdream2 - 62 here. Disneyland, 10+, Disneyworld 15+, EuroDisney once, but Disney Cruise never. First wife would be onboard in a heartbeat. Current is different. I envy you (in a good way). Please enjoy DCL and your special family.

We only cruise Disney because it is amazing. @GIL155, tell your wife my husband is 74 and I am 68, my grown children and grandchildren and never get bored. It isn't just for kids.

Sounds ideal! Still trying to talk my wife into a Disney cruise. She thinks we are too old. NEVER TO OLD!!!
