Review summary

My family loved our first cruise! Highly recommend

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We did online-check-in so the process of checking-in went smoothly. Entering the ship was nice-there was an opportunity to take a picture by some of the disney photographers and we love that since we could have that for a souvenir, and being welcomed onto the ship was also a nice touch. Guests really feel welcomed!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was top notch and delicious! Our waiters at dinner-time at Animator's Palate, Enchanted Garden, and Royal Palace were friendly and did an awesome job! The food our main server recommended was always good. The magic tricks and puzzles the assistant server did were always fun and interesting; my family loved solving all of them. For breakfast and lunch on the ship we went to Cabanas. Despite being a buffet, Cabanas is clean and had a tasty selection of food. My family always looked forward to all the food the crew had to offer. Another interesting and nice thing we always came across was the use of anti-bacterial wipes always being available near the food places. We appreciate and like that Disney has them readily available. We definitely miss the food!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My family and I went to the Buena Vista Theater to watch The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Watching while aboard the Disney Dream was an experience; there were enough seats for everyone watching (there are other showtimes throughout the trip so you don't have to worry) and the interior design was beautiful. My daughter and I went on the Aqua Duct and it's a bit like a "log ride" but with a floaty instead. We enjoyed that a lot! The characters we met were very friendly and fun to meet.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Golden Mickeys, Beauty and the Beast, and Believe were all superb! Fantastic singing and acting, and the interior design of the theater was beautiful. Despite showing a bit late to The Golden Mickeys, my family loved it and we always looked forward to the next shows. We were not disappointed with any of the shows!

Children's Programs

No kids with us!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters at dinner-time at Animator's Palate, Enchanted Garden, and Royal Palace were friendly and did an awesome job! The food our main server recommended was always good. The magic tricks and puzzles the assistant server did were always fun and interesting; my family loved solving all of them. Our room stewardess was friendly and did an excellent job in keeping the room clean and tidy, and we always looked forward to the towel origamis whenever we'd return to our stateroom by nighttime. On the first day my wife had a problem with the scent of the pillows and our stewardess was kind enough to replace them. Another thing my family appreciated and enjoyed was the announcements, specifically by Carly! She did an awesome job to inform the guests in an easy and clear way to understand about what activities we'd be expecting that day or the following day. On the day before disembarkation we were able to meet her and she was so friendly! My family and I love that all the crew members were friendly and kind to answer all our questions, have nice conversations, and do their best to help all the guests. Thank you to the crew members! Our cruise wouldn't have been great without them! Walt Disney would be proud!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Disney Dream is beautiful in its exterior and interior design. It's really photogenic! Our only critique would be to have the dining places near the top or middle of the ship to avoid feeling seasick during eating and maybe have entertainment (like theaters) and shops near the bottom. Our last dinner was at Animator's Palate on Deck 3 and the captain of the ship informed everyone that the waves would be really rough that evening so we really felt the rocking of the ship and couldn't really finish or enjoy the food since we started feeling seasick.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our stateroom was on Deck 9 near the elevators and we loved our location. My wife has anxiety of being in closed-spaces so she liked being near the elevators and stairs. We also liked being near Cabanas since we go there for breakfast. The size of the room was great for us (family of 3) and we loved the veranda since we get a view of the ocean, Nassau, and Castaway Cay. Our stewardess did an excellent job of tidying the room! No furniture was dirty or broken and the sheets and towels were always clean. Besides my wife's problem with the pillows scent on the first day (our stewardess changed the pillows after we voiced our concern), there was no bad smells.

Ship tip

Don't be afraid to ask questions! The crew members are very kind!

Place to board and leave the Disney Dream. A nice place!

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

We didn't want to leave the ship since we wanted to explore and enjoy what the Disney Dream had to offer.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

I really enjoyed swimming and it was fun to see some fish in the water. My wife and daughter loved relaxing on the beach. We looked forward to the food on the island and loved all the ones we ate.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Carly was very clear on what to do and expect on disembarkation. Our waiters were also kind enough to inform us about disembarkation without us asking and we really appreciate that. Because of these we weren't confused. The actual disembarkation went smoothly. My family and I used the Disney Cruise bus to Disney's All Star Sports Resort and there were no problems. All of the crew members and cast members did a great job of informing and transporting guests!
