Review summary

We enjoyed our first Disney Cruise, seeing the kids LOVE it, made it even more enjoyable. I would most likely NOT take a Disney cruise without children. I would pick another cruise line in this case. Dinner at night is very loud! While food and service are great, it is not relaxing. :-) We were not surprised.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went a lot quicker than anticipated, but make sure to allow enough time to get through the necessary stops. It helps to be at least 15 minutes early in the main building, so allow time to drop of your luggage, park, and get into the building.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was good, but not great. There are lots of options. Loved siting outside during breakfast and lunch.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Spa Center was great, massages were awesome. The only negative is they try to sell you products at the end, so beware. Aqua Duck was lots of fun! Enjoyed the pool areas, able to watch the kids while sunning. Kids enjoyed having pictures made with characters.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Stage show, an illusionist, was fantastic! Game shows were not as great as I'd hoped or as well attended. The Pirate Party and fireworks were awesome!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Could not drag them out of the kid's club, they loved it!! Loved having pics made with characters.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As with most cruises, the staff are very attentive and try to make your cruise a great one.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Great design, with the exception of the older kid's pool - should be a little larger to accommodate that many kids comfortably.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Size was small as with all cruise lines, but the location was perfect for our family. We were close to the stairs/elevator to go to breakfast and lunch and kids to get easily to the kid's club on 5th floor. The cabin was comfortable, including the queen bed, lots of room for luggage underneath and very clean. We never did figure out the phone/intercom and kids didn't want to carry it due to size. We had the separate bathrooms with an extra sink. While it helped, we could have lived without it.

Ship tip

Be with your kids 30 -45 minutes prior to the safety drill on the first afternoon. Hard to find them once this starts, and they close the pool early for this exercise.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Port was fine, not too large. Wish Disney had explained the dropping off of luggage for those who drove in their personal vehicle. We didn't take advantage of curb side drop off, but we would next time. Easy though to part in the deck and walk over.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

We stayed on the ship and I'm glad we did. Not as crowded and great day on the boat.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
Beautiful Thanksgiving Day! I think it would be too hot in the summer to really enjoy the island. Easy to navigate around the island. Wish the post office had been open (never thought about it being closed for a US Holiday) so we could have purchased and mailed postcards. Great day on the island.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and efficient.

My wife and I love cruising without kids.
