Review summary

I have very little complaints about the Disney Dream, after all it is Disney.  From the beauty of the ship, the service, the bedding, our state rooms, the food, it was all fantastic.  However, we had an elderly woman in a wheelchair that made the elevator situation very difficult.  The ships should be able to accommodate the handicap better by providing a designated elevator for them.  At times the elevators and corridors were very warm. Last, but not least, they should have a better plan "B" for days when the guests are not able to disembark on their private island due to the weather.  On Sunday we encountered this problem.  There was torrential rain and storms and we found ourselves on a ship with five children who made us crazy.  There wasn't a lot of activities they could do and we couldn't even go shopping.  The shops were finally opened a few hours later while the ship was docked, but the entire morning was very stressful.  Because of the circumstances we entered the theatre to watch Finding Dory, to try and entertain the kids, but when we tried to get popcorn, we had to pay for it.  I think that under the circumstances, Disney should have made an exception and they should have given the popcorn out for free.  Other than that, it was a lot of fun.

I have no complains about our Cabin. It was marvelous.

Ship tip

Review all your documents and try to make as many reservations and plans before getting on the ship. Once you are on the ship time moves quickly and if you have not previously planned you can miss out on a lot.

The only problem was we did not enjoy the fullness of the island because it rained half of the day and we were not able to go on until the afternoon. All watersports were cancelled.

Understanding, respect, and patience are values learned at an early age so tbey can become good habits. The opposite is true also. And habits are hard to break.

In my experience, even if an elevator is designated as handicap only most people will still crowd on it and keep the handicapped person off. Not much any organization can do to force people to accommodate others. Just saying.

Smurfette64 perhaps the reason you see a lot of wheelchair s at disney is because disney is one of the few places that truly accommodates people with moblity issues . Also to complain about people parking wheelchairs and walking is a annoying comment to make, you have no idea what a person's disability or illness is. Many people are still able to walk just not very far or long. As a able bodied person you should really keep comments like this to yourself, as you yourself has never had to experience the hardship thoes have to face on a daily. Try and take joy that these people are able to enjoy themselves in a environment that is accommodating , when most of them on the daily have to deal with a non accommodating world.

With all the food available, the stairs were a way to work off the extra calories intake!

I LOVE Disney cruising - nothing beats them. As for the wheelchair issue, it is the same on any ship around the world - not just a Disney problem. Although in saying that, I have never seen so many wheelchairs in my life than at the numerous WDW resorts - and they border on extremely annoying - especially when the users park them up and get up walk into venues faster than some non-wheelchaired guests
