Review summary

We are still loyal Princess cruisers despite a few hiccups. I am confident Princess will have the Discovery operating like their other ships shortly which has always been top notch.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Had to wait over 2 hours for our Princess transfer bus to pick us up. Staff at airport had no clue what to do. Once we finally made it to the terminal, there was a very long line outside to get in and no instruction from Princess staff. Once we got inside the terminal we were on the ship in less than 10 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Ketchikan dining room was ok, but after waiting over 40 minutes for our lukewarm dinner, we didn’t go back. Buffet was good, once again had a good variety of choices. Gigi’s (aka Alfredo’s) was amazing as always. Also the Salty Dog by the pool had amazing hamburgers.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was always something to do if you wanted.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The show Rock Opera was outstanding! A bit loud for our old ears but very enjoyable. Also really enjoyed the entertainment in the Piazza.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I can’t say enough about the crew. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and appeared to genuinely want us there.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We were the third cruise so the ship was new and spotless. Beautiful ship!! And yes, it did have that new ship smell!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was clean and comfy. Had lots of hangers in the closet.

Ship tip

Overall, we had a fantastic time. We loved the ship and met some wonderful people and crew members. We didn’t allow the few hiccups ruin the cruising experience for us.

Ports of call

We loved the Rock Opera! Found food to be a bit hit or miss, but really fun trip nonetheless! Nice review. Thanks for sharing!

When we were there in March (terminal 1), they seemed to have their act together. But since I was on Carnival, it may have just looked good. The construction of the sky rail has made things a bit messy for terminal 1 folks going to the bus.

I have a cruise booked on the Discovery in Feb 2023. I'm hoping it still has that new ship smell. 🤣🙂
