Review summary

We sailed on the Diamond Princess on our first cruise and we were not disappointed. The size of the ship was much bigger than what you see before boarding, and the size of our cabin was big. There were many dining options at the beautiful and cozy resturants. The food was first class and in many cases better than restuarants on land. Talk about first class service from the dining room staff, truly exceptional, and of course it was a wonderful atmosphere . The lobster and crab dinners were comparable to any great seafood restuarant in NY city. The buffet did not feel like a regular buffet stand by more like a food court with choices for any palate. The area was open and spacious and we never had to wait in line to get food whatever time of day. The seating options were placed in the very best area and they all had oceanview. Most couples spent the morning of the glacier bay cruising and enjoying the wonderful view of the whales etc. The nightlife was very exicting and the casino had a variety of games, just not enough payback from the slot machines. The shows were great and the parties were exciting. The 14th floor was the best with the buffet, the pool deck, jacuzzi, ice cream and pizza stands all in one place. The view from here was amazing because you can see the panaromic oceanview view from any side. Our stateroom was cozy and had ample space for storage. The twice a day linen change and most friendly cabin stewart made for a memorable cruise. Overall we have to say the ship was impressive, the staff was wonderful, and we really had a wonderful cruise.
