Review summary

The Diamond Princess is large, but never crowded. The beds and cabins were roomy and comfortable. The decor is very subdued and lovely. There were many swimming pools and hot tubs available. There is a Promenade Deck for sitting and/or walking. The ship is very clean and the food was excellent.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
This ship offers alternative "anytime dining". We preferred the dining room with the same wait staff each evening.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The large show was very good. There were also speakers and entertainers aboard at each port that were good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room stewards cleaned the cabin early and were back before dinner to clean again. The staff members were very helpful and fun.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was roomy and comfortable. We had an "obscured" view, but were able to see over the lifeboats and did not consider this a downfall.

Ports of call

Skagway, Alaska

Shopper's paradise. The Red Onion is a great and fun place for lunch.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Lots of rain here. Did not tour.

Whale watching with Eco Tours was fantastic. Our helicopter flight was canceled due to poor visibility.

Pros: All areas of the ship are pure class

Cons: Casino slot machines paid out in coins
