Review summary

I proposed this cruise to the people we went with. There was a group of 6 of us. I did it based on my first cruise with Princess but I wouldn’t do it again. My group was constantly complaining so I felt I let them down.

Embarkation

Embarkation was quick and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I had taken a Princess cruise in the past and always felt that it was slightly better than some of the competitors but this cruise proved that wrong as the food was at best average. The one thing I was disappointed with was the drinks on the ship. They were watered down. I don’t think I could have gotten a good buzz if I wanted to.

Calypso Cove

1 out of 5

The Calypso bar near the pool had terrible service. Not once was I approached by a bar waiter at my lounge chair for drink service. I had to go to the bar to get a drink where I had to wait sometimes 30 min.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment was good. The comedian was exceptional.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
The staff was mis-informed about many things. Our cabin stuwart told us one thing then another person would tell us something different. We took 2 bottles of wine with us and carried them on in one of our bags. We were missing that bage on the first night and got various info on how to get the bag.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This ship is a bit worn and the layout for one of the dining room is a bit odd. You have to go across the ship and down one floor to get to it. You cannot get to it from all spots on the the floor it’s on. Even the cruise director jokes about it.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
We had an interior cabin that wasn’t as clean as we would like.

Ship tip

I would only do the ship if there was a really good sale on the cruise price.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We went on the VIP Serenity beach excursion and it was well worth it. The drinks were good and service was excellent. The food was a bit bland and non eventful.

Grand Turk Island

1 out of 5
There is only one thing to do on this island and that’s Margaritaville. We took a island highlight and beach excursion and it was not good. There is nothing on the island to see. The island has not natural beauty since it’s a big piece of limestone. The beaches and water are beautiful as the depth of the water makes the water look very blue but the people are very poor and have no real work ethic. The service at the beach was terrible. So much so we left early and went back to the port wher Margaritaville is located. So don’t waste your time doing anything else but staying at the port.

Yeah, there were some issues with my cabin location on the Crown, hopefully they will be resolved.

Crown goes into dry dock next week to get updated as a medallion class ship. Always love Crown and whe. On there last week in January some areas need upgrade. But always a friendly staff.

You can't make some people happy and cruising isn't for everyone. My husband and i love cruising, my sister doesn't and she makes constant comments to me about taking a"different"vacation"...you didn't let anyone down...
