Review summary

Two days prior to a cruise with my 10 year old son, my Father passed away in an accident. I was in touch with our airline and our cruise agent to notify them as I had no insurance. SPIRIT AIRLINES was wonderful and immediately issued me a FULL CREDIT toward a future trip (they even accepted the article from our local newspaper as proof as it was too early to have a death certificate.) My travel agent spent a great deal of time on the phone with Princess on my behalf and was lucky enough to get almost all of our preordered water, beer, and kids drink package fee returned, but not our prepaid gratuities. I was issued $400 out of $1,300 our trip had cost. I sent Princess an email requesting some help with it. No response. I called Princess myself and a nice lady, Beverley, said there was absolutely nothing she could do and I should write them directly as it was up to their discretion. I sent that on March 16, yet I have received no response. I am a single mother who worked my tail off to take my child on his first cruise. I have a credit to fly, and I feel I still owe my son a cruise, but with this oh so wonderful customer service from Princess during this tragic time I can assure it will not be with them.

I am sorry for your loss. But things do happen and it is so important to take the insurance. Hopefully you and your son can cruise another time

The insurance is worth it’s weight in gold especially when planning so far in advanced. You just never know what can come up.

How tragic and so sorry for your loss. Definitely go to the head of the house and hopefully they will be compassionate enough to credit you with another cruise. Never go without travel insurance though.

Sorry for your loss. I hope it all gets worked out. A few days prior to a family cruise, my best friend's boyfriend passed in a car accident. Some of the family still went, but his mom stayed behind. I cannot imagine... This was with another cruise line. I would think they would (should) give you a credit for future cruise. I really hope it works out. majmom96, kind of you to help guide her.

The Senior VP of Guest Operations is Mario Siebaldi and you can actually reach him through LinkedIn. His office is in Santa Clarita, CA. I’ve always found that going straight to the top and being persistent usually gets a large company to take action. Good luck.

So sorry for your loss, that is so sad. But I would say not to give up on Princess. You should check on line and obtain the name of the VP in charge of guest relations. Send that person a letter with your previous letter attached. At a minimum they should give you this credit towards a future cruise. You can always threaten them with exposure on the local news. Local news agencies usually have departments who help people in your situation. Another option for a refund is to check with the credit card company you used to book the cruise. They may have trip insurance. Best of luck to you.
