An overall and by and large very disappointing cruise. The worst cruise with Costa(our 3d) ever. Discriminatory, shameful, humiliating, dishonest, and deceptive "passports" affair for non-EU nationals. Dishonest, deceptive, arrogant, and inflexible attitude with the above mentioned by the ship authorities in charge.
Embarkation

very bad. extremely poorly organized, chaotic, and discombobulated. The staff seemed incompetent, lost, and unable to cope with the crowds
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Poor quality of stewardship by the personnel in the buffet. Very limited buffet selections: had to beg for tomatoes, cucumbers, oat meal by request only in the Paloma. No bananas, the cheapest fruit. Inconvenient opening hours for the buffet. Staff had very limited English communication skills. No self service in the buffet. And this is buffets for!!!
Had to beg maître d to change our sitting at the restaurant assigned to us peremptorily and summarily.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Ballroom dancing, Trivia(video) games, fitness. Not much trivia games' variety- boring, no imagination, all the same time and over again. Rather tight fitness room and small machines' selection. NO library on board- its a shame.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Kudos to trio: soloists Barbara Gutti, Giovanni (Joannie) and band!!!. Excellent ballroom dancing music selection and performance!!! What a joy!!!. However, very hot and no air-conditioning around the dance floor at the Rhapsody bar. The staff refused to turn air-conditioning on despite multiple requests under preposterous pretexts!!!. Children were allowed on the dance floor with no heeding for the patrons and children's safety. Poor quality of shows: at times bawdy and vulgar. "Abbamania" show held at very late at 23:15.
On TV Italian movies in Italian & American movies in Italian.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Clean and good size room and facilities. Many thanks to our steward Jorge (George) for his conscientious and hard work!!!. Almost always long lines at the reception and Tour desks with Poor English communication skills. The priority given to Italian, French, German ones. Lack of the initiative and problem solving skills at the reception and tour desks. Dishonest, deceitful, arrogant, and inflexible ship authorities responsible for taking our passports away.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Its an old (14 years) ship. Elevators, on the whole, worked good. Sometimes the bottlenecks occurred on deck "0" while going ashore and coming back.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Card key could be temperamental. See comments under service and staff.
Ship tip
Not to sail. The non-EU passengers were discriminated against, humiliated, and harassed. Their passports were taken away for the whole duration of the cruise with no clear explanation. We were lied about getting our passports for so many times and by so many people from the reception clerks to immigration officers.
Its a hassle at best. Hard to reach. means of transportation are meagre between rail station and the cruise port which creates anxiety and long, long lines. Atrocious embarkation
