Review summary

We had fun on this cruise. I just didn’t feel like I was on a Celebrity cruise. I kept forgetting I wasn’t on a Royal. The vibe on the ship was more in line with the Royal Caribbean cruises we’ve taken, not the Celebrity cruises we’ve taken. Loved the main dining room, but we disliked the Oceanview Buffet. The American fare on this ship was almost non-existent.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining room food was good. Service was outstanding! Never had a reservation, but we were seated immediately on the two evenings we ate in the Cosmopolitan. We usually enjoy the buffet on Celebrity. We did not enjoy the buffet on Summit. The food was very international. Most dishes did not appeal to us. First time that’s ever happened. I would expect that on a cruise out of another country, but not out of the US. It would be one reason we would not sail Summit again.

Onboard Activities

The Casino

3 out of 5

Lot of fun playing the slots. No big hits but enough wins to play and have fun. For the casual gambler, the casino would be fine. For those that cruise for the gambling, this casino would probably not be your cup of tea! Very small casino!!!

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The shows were good. Entertainers were very talented. The comedian was a little boring during the 7:00, but he was very funny on an adult’s show, which was later in the evening. The casino was fun, but it is very small and has a lot of slots I have never seen. For those who like to frequent the casino, this is probably not the ship for you!

Children's Programs

No children with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Celebrity has the best staff I have encountered on any of my cruises. They clearly train their staff very well! The only issue we had on board was at Cafe Al Bacio. My husband went to get two Americano coffees one morning, but he did not take my card. He gave him a hard time. I thought that was completely unnecessary for a coffee when he could tell that we both had the drink package.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was so easy to navigate. Summit is definitely an older feeling ship, but is maintained beautifully!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Balcony cabin and bathroom were the smallest we’ve seen, but the cabin was beautiful . The storage is amazing. We didn’t even need a lot of the storage. Definitely one of the most updated cabins I’ve seen.

Ship tip

The feel on board this ship was different than any other Celebrity cruise we’ve taken. The music at the pool was loud and rocking! We actually enjoyed that! Way more children on this 5 day cruise than you would typically find on Celebrity. I think we have decided no more short cruises out of Miami. The short cruises out of Port Canaveral are more to our liking!

Ports of call
