All in all, we enjoyed this trip. The staff was professional and friendly although they only ever addressed my wife (“madame”) during our interactions with them. The boat was clean and tastefully updated. Most of the entertainment was great and the food in Luminae was very good.
Embarkation

Very unorganized. The local handlers seemed overwhelmed with the crowds.

Onboard Activities

Attended a wine pairing class that was offered and it was educational and fun. Also partook of a Macallan scotch tasting session presented by the same crew who ran the wine pairing. He made this educational also (really!!).
The fitness center is very large and clean. We never had to wait to use any of the equipment we wanted.
Entertainment

The shows in the the main theater were mostly great. The first night’s performer was not, though. The performer had a thick accent which made him difficult to understand and the acoustics seemed off so the band never seemed quite on the same page as the singer.
Subsequent shows/performers were much better. The ship’s theater cast put on the excellent performances.
The ship also had a solo guitarist who performed at several different venues around the boat. He was great.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin is mostly terrific. We loved the space and the balcony.
Two items of concern, though.
First, the bedroom door would not stay latched/closed unless we locked it. And, then unlocking it was pretty difficult. We like sleeping with the door closed for a darker room and so that the door doesn’t swing with the boat’s motion.
Second, the step into the shower/tub is a BIG one. I’m 6’3” tall and found it an uncomfortable step up and into the tub. If you’re short or not quite so stable on your feet, be careful.
We took the “Harbour Walk” shortly after we arrived in Halifax. A very nice round trip walk from the boat (just under 2 miles).
Then we took a taxi to the Fairview Cemetery to see the Titanic gravestones. Interesting to see the many unnamed markers.
Then it was time for the scheduled ship excursion.
First stop was a quick “photo op” at the entrance to the Citadel. Not worth the stop
at all. If you’re interested in the Citadel, arrange a different tour.
The next stop was Peggy’s Cove. Absolutely beautiful but horribly overcrowded with buses from our ship and another cruise ship that was also in port.
After returning to the Summit we had some time to relax and enjoy a pint at the brewery right at the port. A nice way to end the day.
We really enjoyed this stop. We hired our own taxi for three hours. There was a very nice gentleman with an orange safety vest at the port exit arranging taxis. He offered us a paper describing the taxi “tour” rate and when a taxi arrived, he arranged it with the driver.
We went to Cape Spear (easternmost point in North America and two lighthouses), Petty Harbor (a small fishing village), Signal Hill, and Quidi Vidi (and the local brewery).
The driver was a great tour guide and it was nice seeing sights at our own pace.
We arrived a day before the cruise departed. Spent time on our own in Reykjavik with a trip to the Blue Lagoon (which was just ok — very crowded). We did not use Celebrity for any pre departure activities or transfers.
Nice to say I’ve been to Greenland but there is really nothing much to see or do in this tiny village.
We walked around for about one hour and took in how the locals lived. This was interesting but otherwise there just isn’t much here.
