Review summary

A fine ship though it's getting increasingly dated and the repairs were not all that impressive.

Embarkation

The port at Bayonne is not easy to find, and even GPS can't seem to keep up with all the rapid improvements they are trying to implement. You drive down small two lane streets which is not reassuring. Twice we were sure we were lost but just headed towards the water! Passenger drop-off and parking was easy. Very helpful baggage handlers are everywhere on hand. A bit hectic and harried at checking in, and a longer security line than we've experienced in the past. Suite passengers have a dedicated line if you're in that class I'd definitely make sure you've gone to the right line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Restaurants were uniformly satisfying, and the buffet always has plenty of choices. Qsine is really over the top, but with four of us it was quite enjoyable as there are so many good things to choose. Tuscan Grille offered delicious and beautifully prepared food, but it's a long evening--a full hour from checking in to getting our first course. Sushi on 5 was fine, Gelateria was not worth the price. Fun bars all around the ship, and the Rendezvous Room was peaceful and calm. Perfect for a nightcap.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Silent Disco and Shuffleboard!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Uniformly warm and welcoming, expert attendants, waiters, bartenders, crew, and captain. Everyone is helpful and eager for you to enjoy your stay. There were a few language barriers but everyone tries very hard to be kind and courteous.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Despite a refit in 2016 there were some glaring errors, such as chipped leather on the casino chairs as well as in the cafe. There were even, believe it or not, folding chairs in the cafe.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Aft-facing Concierge Class cabins have expansive decks with plenty of sunshine.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Difficult to get to, though once there it is easy to drop off passengers and park. Bizarrely difficult to find Newark Airport if you're not familiar with the area.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Lovely, with lots of activities. This is also probably the least "touristy" spot I've been to when docked. There are lots of souvenir places, etc. but you can board buses and get taxis easily. Note the difference: a taxi will take your party to your destination while a minivan will wait until it's full before departing. Taxis can be expensive.
