Review summary

We had a great time on the Celebrity Summit! The staff made our stay very enjoyable and comfortable. Enjoy your trip and don't let the little things bother or interfere with your trip.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived early to Bayonne so were able to complete our embarking process quickly. Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne and later were able to enjoy a nice lunch in the main dining room.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was good/excellent depending what you ordered. We did not partake of the specialty restaurants although the staff from those areas were aggressive in trying to make reservations. We were approached with menus in common areas, such as the pool area, the evening bars and upon entering the ship from excursions. A little too much. The buffet for breakfast or lunch was adequate but not too inventive. Have had better on other cruise lines.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We took advantage of the pool and sun deck daily as we had great weather all week. There are outdoor movies, good music on deck also. The Summit is not a mega ship so there is a limit to pools and other outside activities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ship singers/dancers/acrobats shows were great. We also had a great time watching the comedian and magician on the other nights.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service staff in the dining rooms as well as the room steward are hard working, attentive and personable. They looked after all our needs and we couldn't have been happier.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is clean well-maintained but does need some TLC as it is over 15 years old. Some décor modernization of common areas would bring it up to date. It is also not as large as the super liners of today and does not have the glitz and glamour some enjoy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was very clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are a little on the small size but enough to for one person at a time. We were in the concierge class so there was a bottle of champagne upon boarding left in our room along with fresh fruit that we replenished daily along with afternoon appetizers. We had access to cotton robes, binoculars, umbrella - which we thankfully did not need.

Ship tip

Enjoy your stay without comparing to other cruise ships. The staff tries to do everything in their power to be helpful and make your stay enjoyable. If you like to have alcoholic beverages and don't want the beverage package you are allowed to bring two bottles of wine/champagne, per cabin, to be consumed in your stateroom.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey Did not visit port

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
We did some shopping and of course bought the famous rum cakes in King's Wharf. We had been to the Naval Museum previously and it is interesting to see if this is your first visit. We do recommend the four hour bus tour around the island, as well as St George, a very beautiful town as well as Hamilton. On Wednesdays, go to the evening parade in Hamilton and enjoy the crafts and culture of Bermuda.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We opted to do the self-disembarking (taking out our own luggage) which was quick and were able to go through customs within a few minutes. We were off the ship by 9 am.
