Review summary

This cruise was chosen because of its itinerary to view the fall foliage in the New England States and Canada.  The leaves in Nova Scotia were okay.  They had just begun to turn so they weren't that impressive.  Not so in Quebec City.  They were at their peak and absolutely beautiful.  We missed Bar Harbor, Maine due to Hurricanes Matthew and Nicole.  Portland was nice but the leaves were not at their peak either.  Boston was so crowded that if they had any leaves, we couldn't have seen them!  While the ships crew was very engaging and present throughout the cruise, we found the ship itself rather sedate in it's color scheme and on board activities.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was nothing exceptional. It was average compared to other ships we have sailed on.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The on board activities were ok. Unfortunately, they would have several that we would want to do but their times conflicted so we could only do one and then there would be several hours where nothing really appealed to us.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
It's hard to find different entertainment for 14 days that is going to please everyone. The ships dancers and singers did three shows during the course of the trip - one was opening night and we didn't go. The next show was ok but the last night's show was really good. The musicians they had on board were great musically, but a lot of their musical choices were not songs that I felt were particularly good and therefore I found myself looking at my watch to see when it would be over.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The employees throughout the ship were very friendly. Donovan at the breakfast buffet was the highlight of everyone's morning. The officers were the most engaging officers of any ship we've been on. They participated in many of the games and were there to welcome us on and off the ship at each port.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is laid out very well and makes it easy to quickly learn your way around it. They were constantly cleaning the interior of the ship but they really needed to wash the exterior windows. They were really dirty from sea spray and made it difficult to view through them. We have always seen someone washing windows on previous cruises, but didn't see one person doing it the entire 14 days we were on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
This cabin has an adjoining door to cabin 7190. We could hear EVERYTHING that was said in that cabin as a result of this door. We have never been on a ship where we could hear them talking, watching TV or the clinking of their dishes while eating room service. Luckily they were part of our group, so that really helped. Also their is an awning for the sixth deck that stick out from the balcony of this cabin - therefore, you can't look straight down - only out. This was disappointing as well.

Ship tip

The Revelations Lounge was cold every time we went up there, so if you're the least bit cold natured, bring a sweater!

Quaint town to just get out and walk about - lots of cute towns and a beautiful church. They have a lot of souvenirs in the terminal.
