Review summary
Our favorite part of our cruise were the ports in PEI and Quebec City. The best mussels I have ever eaten were in Prince Edward Island. They were so tender, they melted in your mouth. You can't go wrong with any restaurant around the pier.
Our favorite stop was Quebec City. It is so charming and quaint. It has the look of an old European city. It was by far the most colorful and scenic. When leaving Quebec City, we passed the most beautiful colors. We could just not stop looking at them.
As far as the ship the Summit, overall it is a lovely ship. The biggest disappointment was the food in the dinning room. It was most definitely sub par.
The food in the buffet was far better. Having been on the Celebrity Solstice just two years ago on a cruise to New Zealand and Australia the food in the dinning room was delicious.
The entertainment on the Summit was fabulous. Second to none. Every day we would look forward to the shows knowing that they would be great.
Service on the ship (especially our cabin steward) was awesome.
The Summit is one of only a handful of cruise ships that have a female Captain. Captain Kate as she referred to herself was amazing. This is the first cruise in at least twenty plus cruises that we were totally able to understand every word she would say. The majority of cruise ship Captains are usually from Europe with extremely strong accents that makes it very difficult to understand what they are saying. It was a breath of fresh air having Captain Kate aboard. She would always end every briefing which was at 10:00 am with a Confucius saying. Captain Kate was the most visible and approachable Captain that we have ever sailed with.
We would definitely recommend this cruise for its scenic beauty, Captain Kate's personality, but be prepared to eat many of your dinners in the buffet.
