Review summary

To me, this Celebrity cruise is just about an ideal cruise. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful in every way possible. The food (except for the bagels which are no resemblance to a real New York bagel) was excellent each evening with a huge variety to satisfy every palette. The ship (Summit) holds about 2,000 passengers which was perfect for our needs. The pools were perfect, the fitness room was well maintained, the burgers by the pool were great. The elevators are fast. They surprised with many unexpected "amenities". For example, on a hot day they had iced towels and cold drinks to help cool us off before getting back on the ship. Some other ships with 3-4,000 passengers may have better shows, but it is a hassle to get into the shows. We spoke to folks on a Norwegian with 4,000 passengers who indicated they were not happy due to the crowds on the ship and waiting for facility availability. We cruised before with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity is superior, especially with the food. We traveled with a teenager who found many friends on board and only once during the week joined us for dinner. There are more activities than you can imagine. It was over and time to go home before we wanted to. I only wish Celebrity would cruise to more locations so we would not have to repeat the same cruise. That said, my cousin has taken the same Celebrity cruise three times and can't imagine a nicer experience. So, why wasn't it rated 100 out of 100? The beds could have been more comfortable, the shows could have been better, certainly the bagels needed much improvement, the fireworks on July 4 were terrible and seemed just to be a ploy to sell more drinks. The worst part of the trip was before we got on the ship; the line in Bayonne took us 1.5 hours to get through at 12:30 and seemed disorganized. I recommend arriving early in Bayonne. Yes, I would not hesitate to recommend Celebrity.
