Review summary

We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our first cruise on Celebrity. We recently sailed 2 cruises on another line and thought that line was high end, but this cruise on Celebrity matched it! We love days at sea, so only 2 ports was fine & both were new experiences for us. The stay in Cabo was overnight, so we had 1 & 1/2 days there, which was really nice. Passengers were also the most friendly of any cruise we’d been on, we met so many great people! WONDERFUL WEEK-we hated to leave the ship, the staff & new friends!

Embarkation

Fast, no waiting

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was very good, only a vet few items not to our liking. Buffet at dinner was very limited, we were told that was due to low capacity-but the breakfast & the lunch selection especially was amazing

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The weather was very cool except while in port at Cabo San Lucas, so that limited use of the outdoor pools. It was great to have the solarium where the air & the pool were warm. Fitness center is well equipped. The cost for the Persian Garden in the Spa is very high, especially considering there isn’t a hydrotherapy pool or massaging showers, which we’ve really enjoyed on other ships.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Really enjoyed the Production Cast Singers & Dancers shows (Rock City, Broken Strings)! The magician was ok. We did not enjoy the comedian, content was offensive & we skipped his 2nd show. Music-The Barricade Boys were EXCELLENT!!! We listened to several performances of The Swingin’ Crew & It Takes Two. Solo Guitarist Max Vorog’s performances were nice while h dung a cocktail.

Children's Programs

We didn’t not travel with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff on our cruise were the most friendly, helpful & personable we’ve ever had on the several cruises we’ve taken! From bartenders & servers, our room steward, dining room & buffet staff, guest services staff to restroom attendants etc. etc., they were wonderful. We got to know many of them personally.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We like the size of the Solstice & prefer to avoid the mega ships. The ship was kept clean (staff often present cleaning heavily used surfaces) & well maintained. Hand sanitizer stations were plentiful & I never encountered an empty one.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The bed was very comfortable! The cabin bathroom was spacious & had abundant storage!!

Ship tip

If you don’t like long walks to an elevator, avoid a cabin in the far back of the ship.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
We rented a golf cart & loved exploring this island! It’s mountainous, so there were beautiful views!

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
We enjoyed eating locally, at Los Claros. We booked an independent catamaran cruise with Cabo Blue & really enjoyed it! Did NOT like the hawkers on El Medano Beach, they were non stop. Surprised that most of the restaurants & shops along the marina closest to the cruise ship pier closed before dinner.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth, no waiting in the ship or the terminal (very low number of passengers on our cruise).
