Review summary

Our 2nd Celebrity cruise. It did not disappoint. We even booked our 3rd cruise while onboard. We’re going to the Galapagos in November aboard the Celebrity Xcursion. Can’t wait!!!

Embarkation

Our cruise was sold out, so there were lots of people & long lines. Never once was that problematic because of the sheer professionalism of the Celebrity staff. The lines moved quickly, orderly & efficienctly even for those without priority status.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The service in the main dining room is top-notch. Staff members should be praised for their quick memory recall of guests & their particular quirks. Amazing. The menu selection is varied so even meat & potato folks like us were content. The buffet selection is international, somewhat intimidating to try to find regular bacon & eggs but we learned quickly to just ask & it shall be given, lol. We ate breakfast often on our balcony & honestly that was the best way to go. The orange juice is way better that way & who doesn’t like to be served breakfast & wished a good morning with an amazing view of an island or open sea?

Onboard Activities

Don’t miss the Corning Hot Glass Show, it’s art, history & education combined with entertainment. The lawn club is serene & surprisingly uncrowded. We watched “The Showman” movie at night on the big screen up top one night at open sea. The screen is huge with a superior sound system. Blankets & large pillows are provided to cuddle & you won’t be disappointed. We found it very serene with the night sky & sound of the ocean.

Service and Staff

Very impressive staff. Great attention to detail & impressive memory recall. Our room steward was our go-to guy for anything we wanted to know. If he didn’t have the answer, rarely, he found out for us & let us know the next time he saw us. Those people work so very hard, away Tom their families & homes for months at a time & seem to enjoy their positions immensely. It is such a refreshing change to see people honestly enjoy their jobs & try everything possible to make your vacation perfect. We tipped our room steward generously & it was evident he was truly appreciative. That made our day to see him so grateful. He earned & deserved a great unexpected wad of cash!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is immaculate. Someone always polishing quietly somewhere. Taking as much pride in cleaning windows as if they were the captain of the ship. Always smiling & friendly. Big ship so lots of walking, but great signage so you always know where you’re at.

Be prepared for staff treating you like you’re the only one on the ship. Be ready to be spoiled & pampered. Be ready to have an idyllic vacation experience.

Ports of call

Honolulu, Oahu

We rented a SlingShot vehicle on our own & drove the island. Totally on our own, totally free & totally awesome.

Lahaina, Maui

Best luau in the state, we heard, & deservedly so. Feast at Lele. We booked it online 3 months early & had front & center seating. The luau was awesome. The next morning we did the Atlantis Submarine excursion in which we booked thru Celebrity. We saw white tip sharks, blowfish, starfish, & enjoyed the voyage under the sea.

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

The big island was our favorite. The most beautiful in our opinion. We enjoyed the Kona coffee plantation tour.

Hilo, Hawaii

Our favorite port. Most notably because of our once in a lifetime experience of watching the volcano erupting from a helicopter & watching a huge cliff fall into the ocean whenever the 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the island. We were in the air whenever it hit & literally watched a huge 400 ft tall, mile long cliff/shelf fall into the ocean. We have the video to prove it!

Victoria, British Columbia

Went on a whale watching excursion we purchased thru Celebrity. Mother Nature didn’t intend for us to see any whales but we did see bald eagles & huge seals.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Our last port. Flew home from here but had all day in a beautiful city. We rented a speedboat & spotted a bald eagle flying across the bay as we sped around? WVing goodbye to the Solstice as she whisked the next group of lucky vacationers off to Alaska.
