Review summary

We had a great first time cruise on Celebrity. We enjoyed our Deck 7 cabin near The Hideaway. Food and service was great on the ship. I recommend Celebrity Silhouette! We sailed December 17-24 from Fort Lauderdale to San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Kitts.

We liked the mid-ship location and the fact that it was adjacent to The Hideaway. We enjoyed coffee and playing cards there.

Ship tip

In our case, for our first ever sailing on Celebrity, we had flexibility to book late and got great pricing/booking about 32 days prior to our sail date.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We did our own walking tour in San Juan. Our port time was 3:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. We were off the ship about 4:00 for our own 2 1/2 hour walking trip. Our route: Paseo de la Princesa to Paseo del Morro walking path to the backside of Castillo San Felipe del Morro; then up steps to alongside the fort to the front of the fort. To this point was about 1.5 miles. We then walked into town with a bit of shopping and on back to the ship.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We did the Secret Sands Beach tour with Skyline Drive (booked with Celebrity). The beach was really nice and we had rum punch. We got some nice Christmas pics with Santa hats. We had fun with our driver on the way back to the ship as he used my Christmas play list on his Bluetooth to blast some music driving through town.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

We took a taxi over to Vibes Beach Club and spent some time there. Then, our taxi friend Kenroy Johnson from a previous land vacation to St. Kitts, took us and new friends over to Timothy Hill Overlook for pictures. We had visited St. Kitts on a land vacation in 2016. On that trip, we did an around the island tour. I would recommend that - especially seeing Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park. Our buddy, Kenroy Johnson, is excellent for private tours. Call or email him to set up a tour.
