Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and the relaxation on this cruise. I have the impression that Celebrity may be trying to reach a younger crowd (we consider ourselves young, active 60+ year olds), while ignoring who their customer base is now. A 9 day itinerary attracts mostly retirees and older professionals who have enough vacation time.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We have Elite status, so there was little wait time.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Celebrity seems to continue to downgrade the menu in the main dining room. Filets are gone, were replaced by strip steak, now replaced with sirloin. We were not blown away by many of the offerings. The "formal" night piled all the goodies (duck l'orange, beef Wellingson, lobster tail) on the same night. Our food was well prepared, but we heard complaints from quite a few other passengers. An attempt to upsell to the restaurants, perhaps? We thought the on board restaurants were overpriced.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Many of the ship's activities are basically tools to sell spa treatments, future cruises, etc. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony watching the world go by. Some of the music played in public areas was annoying. The Silent Disco nights were a scream, though.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Celebrity took their stage shows in-house a couple of years ago. Most are strung together with no particular theme. The singers and dancers are excellent, but the material they are working with is not. We enjoyed the Uptown group. The guest speakers were both excellent, although the timing for some of their lectures conflicted with dining times. ??
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Service was excellent, from wait staff to sommeliers to room stewards.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Celebrity does an excellent job of keeping the ship clean and well sanitized.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Most of the cabins are a standard size. We were very comfortable with the bed and the amenities.
Ship tip
Be sure to sample the baked offerings at Cafe al Bacio. They are free, regardless of whether or not you order coffee. We found these were often better than the desserts in the dining room. The tres leches cake as divine.
