Review summary

I clearly chose the wrong cruise for my family. The average age on this ship must have been over 60. My kids (a toddler and 2 teens) were very bored and don't ever want to cruise again after this experience. There were not enough included dining options like on other ships.

Embarkation

There was a huge line to even get inside the terminal - outside in the sun. Then more long lines once we got inside. The entire process took over two hours, and this was with having "priorty" status with Concierge class.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Not impressed. The food was just OK in the dining room and buffet. We did not do any specialty restaurants because of the high cover charges and were very disappointed that there weren't any other free dining options, like on other cruise lines we have been on. This was a big disappointment and we will not ever sail Celebrity again - and this is one major reason why.

Onboard Activities

We went to the pools, all the shows, an iphone class, art auction, listened to the live music, toddler time. The pools were OK, but there was no area (like a splash zone) for my toddler to play in. Most of the shows were good, but not great. Iphone photo class was very good but of course we had to pay extra for it. Art auction was a waste of time because everything was too expensive. Toddler time was BORING. Not enough toys. Perhaps someone could actually facilitate a Mommy & Me music class or something?

Children's Programs

Not enough for children under 3. It would've been nice to have a Mommy & Me class or something. All there was were a few toys to play with, during very limited hours.

Service and Staff

Our wait staff was fabulous. They were very accommodating of my toddler. Our room steward was nice, but we never got any towel animals like we did on every other cruise we've been on. Quite disappointing since we had 3 children with us!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It was clean but it was boring for a family with kids - not enough cool things for a young family to do. I clearly chose the wrong ship - should've done a RC or Carnival which would have had more fun things to do.

Cabin / Stateroom

Small, but as expected. Clean, but every morning there was a new layer of soot all over our balcony.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Just anxious to get on the ship once we arrived, then anxious to get home after we disembarked.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

No excursion because we arrived so late in the day and only had a couple hours of sunlight. This was very disappointing because my son really wanted to go to the rainforest. All we did was walk around the town which was just OK.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We did a snorkel/beach excursion which we enjoyed.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We took a water taxi to the beach. The water was beautiful, but the beach was so cluttered with chairs and umbrellas that you couldn't even get a good view of the water while sitting on the beach. After paying $40 for the use of some chairs, we were bombarded by locals to buy stuff every 2 minutes, I don';t mind supporting the local economy, especially after the devastation they experienced with the hurricanes, but it was just too much.

Disembarkation

We chose to carry off our luggage ourselves and I believe this saved a lot of time.
