Review summary

Shows were not impressed, dinner menus of opus were almost same every night, cabin and public area felt a bit outdated. But fortunately the staff at the restaurants were very friendly and helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
My daughter is about to start her PhD next month, so my husband and I booked two balcony rooms to celebrate. On the first night, we went to the designated Opus restaurant on the 3rd floor at our assigned time, only to find out that we were seated at a large table shared with three other families we didn't know! We immediately refused and insisted on being given a separate table for our family. At first, the manager tried to dismiss our request by saying there weren’t enough seats, but after we persisted, the manager finally arranged for us to dine at the Opus restaurant on the 4th floor, where there were plenty of individual tables available! I really don’t understand why they initially arranged a shared dining table for us—was this the experience we paid for on this trip?

Shows were not impressed compared to other cruises.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
What made us happy during this trip was the excellent service from the restaurant staff, especially Li Juan at the Oceanview Cafe on the 14th floor and Param at Opus on the 4th floor. We are grateful to them!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
A bit outdated.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We appreciate our steward for keeping our cabin clean every day though we barely met him.

Ship tip

Be careful that your family may share a table with some other families at opus.

On the app Before the cruise you can select a table for just your party or w others. Maybe you tip the maitre d for a major change like this. We also always go to the MDR soon after boarding to see if we like the table and scope out where everything is. It's good so you dont have surprises and can ask for a change. When everyone is seated and eating, it's difficult. But I understand wanting a private table.

Congrats on your daughter’s PhD and may your next cruise be more fulfilling.

It's not uncommon for cruiselines to put other parties at the same table that is shared. We have met several nice people this way and have some life long friends. You should have requested a table of just your family when you booked your cruise.
