Review summary

I am very disappointed in this cruise. I am not speaking of the service, which was very good. I guess part of how I felt had to do with the ship changes. I love Solstice and it was the main reason I booked the cruise. I also have issues with the so-called entertainment. But that is nothing new as I always complain about entertainment and cruise directors. On the plus side is the staff were well-trained and eager to serve. The food service was about as expected with the best dining being in the premium venues.

Embarkation

Stopped every 10 feet for covid inspection. I guess they had to put their people somewhere, I dont think I caught anything within 10 feet

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I had only intended to do Tuscan Grill one time, but it was such a good experience we did it twice

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
With the ship less than half full, you would think there would be more selection of activities.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
This is one of my biggest complaints for any cruise. I realize they have to keep the costs down, but you would think they would at least get a couple of quality acts.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I have never had a cruise that the cabin steward was less than excellent. Andi was perfect. Even when we said there was no rush for requests, he always delivered in a matter of minutes

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Everything was very clean and well maintained. My complaint here is I had booked on Solstice which I love. We were switched to Summit, then Millenium and we only found out in a roundabout way. Communication from our agent and Celebrity was limited to Covid notices, which I received every other day.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was clean and well maintained. I had booked a handicapped cabin, and with the ship changes, the cabin got changed to a normal balcony cabin. After a day of trying to straighten this out with Celebrity and the travel agent, I had resigned myself to the downgrade and was ready to try to fit a mobility scooter into a normal cabin. I dont know which party finally recognized my request, but we were finally booked into a handicapped cabin.

Ship tip

Make sure it is the ship you really want to be on. It is not in the same class or style of Solstice and was not a pleasant surprise

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and efficient. Once they figure out they need to test for covid on disembarkation I suspect that excellent experience will fall

Wow, I have a whole year to wait till my cruise down the Pacific coast on the Millennium. I sure hope things about COVID get ironed out by then!!

Thanks for your review. Cruising with some unpleasant things is sure better than sitting home.

Glad you found some positives. If one of your biggest complaints is always that the entertainment does not meet your standards then maybe you would enjoy cruising more if you adjust your standards. If you know the quality before you book and the quality is exactly what you knew it would be, then no fair complaining. McDonald's never gives me filet mignon but I'm OK with that.

I think you need a different agent if you were not informed of the change of class of ship. You stated that you always complain about entertainment, so I am not sure of your complaints in regards to the cruise
