Review summary
Since this was our first cruise, my husband and I had nothing to compare it with, except what other seasoned cruisers had told us. The ship, Mercury, of Celebrity Cruises was a good size in that we were able to easily meet people and actually bump into them again and share excursion experiences. We also travelled with two other couples who we dined with at night. This was fun but almost not necessary as you didn't feel that you were one fish in a big sea at all. I would have to say that there could be no better way to see the great phenomen of the Panama Canal. We not only went through it but saw the operations from the outside on our excursion. On this same excursion we visited the Embara Indians on one of the islands on Lake Gatun and saw the native peoples in their environment. The jungles also afforded a good look at sloths, toucans, monkeys, crocodiles and many beautiful flowers. On so many levels, the choices we were given for side trips and in-ship courses and presentations were fascinating.Ports of call
Pros: Individualized service, fascinating programs, top-notch courses and food
Cons: I can't think of anything I didn't like
