Review summary

Very goods positioning cruise for you South American first timers. You wsaw ports of call not normally visited and that makes it very interesting. Highlight was Panama Canal. We were told that the Macchu Pichu 2 day tour was well organized, but quite expensive. FYI

Embarkation

Much better than Valparaiso, but still there was a bit of distance to walk, climbing on and off busses to get to the ship, and long lines. Overall, they handled it as best as their resources allowed.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Once again, we were not disappointed with the attitude and professionalism of the staff and their immediate supervisors. Special acclaim goes to the BLU restaurant and every staff member. We were very impressed with them all, which speaks well for their boss., "Marcel".

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Yes, impeccably.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great location except for the noise coming from the 10th Deck, which is the cafeteria. Don't book this room if you like to sleep in.

Ship tip

Look at what is above your stateroom before you book and book early to get the room you want. Enjoyed the ship, and the crew. Would sail with them again.

Ports of call

San Antonio, Chile

Absolutely nothing to do. This is not a tourist town,...it is a port town.

Arica, Chile

We really enjoyed learning about the people and their unusual agriculture. We found it enjoyable. Visited Olive farm, local produce market and shopping area. Almost no time to take a picture of Glyths as we sped by and the best market was at the last, down town near the church. FYI

General San Martin (Pisco), Peru

Took a trip to the Ballestas Islands. Could have managed that by ourselves by taking a ride to town and going out in the many boat tours available and saved a chunk of money. If you're not adventurous, then take the ship's excursion. Worth while in any case.

Callao (Lima), Peru

We took a private City tour by Viator. Saw a whole lot more more less price. First class tour by Integritytourism.com. We were very impressed.

Manta, Ecuador

Don't waste your money on a tour here. Simply take the ship's shuttle to town which lets you off at a market, specifically designed for you. Everything about MANTA IS SOLD RIGHT THERE.

Panama Canal Transit

Highlight of our cruise. Best viewing is from the Constellation Deck, but by 5 am of the day of crossing, those seats were almost gone. Second and third down up there is still the best view.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Took Catamaran to Stingray City. Not a huge group, which was very pleasant way to go there, plus the guide who actually swims with you there can better manage your experience. Plenty of shopping at the port tender stop.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Took the city tour and boat ride. Very pleasant way to disembark and be taken to the airport if your plane departs in the afternoon. Our ship had a bad experience with Homeland Security at this port. Extremely long lines because they were poorly staffed and experienced. If you are GOES, you'll do well there.

Our ship had a bad experience with Homeland Security at this port. Extremely long lines because they were poorly staffed and experienced. If you are GOES, you'll do well there. Our ship made it worse by just flooding the area with everyone because they were in a hurry to turn the ship to dry dock. It backfired on them.
