Review summary

Great trip overall. We had an emergency transfer of a crew member due to health reasons and had to skip our stop in Punta Arenas. This change in venue allowed us to be at Cape Hope at sunrise and to,transit the Beagle Channel during daylight. This was not the normal time to transit the channel. We were able to see many beautiful glaciers that would have been missed with a night transit.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy access to the ship from the airport via ChoiceAir transfer. The embarkation process was relatively quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Quinine, Tuscan and Sushi on 5 were a nice change in the routine of dining in Blu. That is not to say that Blu was not great, but it was a change of venue with really good food. Although I had never really took time to visit the pizza line in the Oceanview restaurant previously, I very much enjoyed the pizza of the day that was offered.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Good variety of things to,do onboard.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Ranger John and Mickey Live were regular presentations that informed the passengers of the upcoming wildlife and high points to see.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The waiters were excellent in all locations with the exception of the long delay in the Oceanview restaurant when ordering a soft drink or adult beverage.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Clean and easy to access all locations.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Excellent bar staff at the Sunset bar and the Constellation Lounge.

Ports of call

Buenos Aires, Argentina

3 out of 5
Big big city with a traffic jam around every corner. You would need a lot more time to explore the many areas of the city. We did experience an excellent dinner at Don Julio’s in the Palermo district of the city. Make sure the meter is runnng if you take a taxi. You might be overcharged otherwise.

Montevideo, Uruguay

4 out of 5
The city is big, but seemed to be very easy to travel through. The private excursion we took gave us a general overview of the city and the highlights.

Punta Del Este, Uruguay

4 out of 5
Beautiful affluent city that we saw in a “Best of” tour.

Puerto Madryn, Argentina

5 out of 5
Great location, PuntaTombo, to see Magellnic Penguins and maybe a dinosaur.

Ushuaia, Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina

5 out of 5
The Terra Del Fuego National Park is and excellent place for a tour. We enjoyed that as well as time afterwards for a quick walk in the downtown area.

Puerto Montt, Chile

3 out of 5
Rain, rain rain! Walked into town and had a drink. Not very picturesque, but we did meet some friendly locals.

San Antonio, Chile

3 out of 5
Industrial port. Not for the tourist. We did take a tour on Valparaiso and continue on to Santiago via a ship excursion/transfer. Lunch was provided and very good.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Not too painful. Our disembarkation was easy to a waiting bus for the final tour and transfer to the airport in Santiago
