Review summary

We failed to reach Antarctica 6 yrs ago on the same ship same itinerary and decided to take a gamble a second time.  Since we did all the desired excursions at every port, we found it semi boring revisiting them again.  Of course the many sea days did not help.

Ultimately, we reached our destination and were blessed with perfect conditions - no wind, snow, rain, rough sea, and even enjoyed sunshine at the Antarctic!  We also saw a fair amount of wildlife.  It was beautiful, but too short.  But then we knew going in it was a "cruise by".  We accomplished our goal and we happy to be able to do it this time round.

Cabin / Stateroom

The two sleeper sofas were worn and sagging. The bathroom smelled of urine although the cabin steward cleaned it regularly,. It must have been due to old pluming on this aged ship. On our prior cruise on the Infinity (same ship) we did not have that problem, Improved insulation between 8166 and 8168 cold be highly desirable as we could hear EVERY WORD and CACKLE from the cabin next door (8168) and could not sleep each night until after they did.

Go to Volunteer Point, the most worthwhile penguin location on the island. Here you can see the King Penguins.

Unless you are going on a penguin or wildlife excursion, the town itself is kind of rough and we had to be shuttled into town as we docked at a industrial pier.
