Review summary

Travelling through the Panama Canal was the highlight for us. It was amazing to see the locks and experience this journey through this narrow stretch of water.

However the commentary, which was broadcast throughout the actual day of travelling the canal and the locks, was very difficult to hear. Inside the ship was fine, but logically you are going to be outside on deck! Here it was difficult to hear, you needed to stand under the speaker to hear properly. Also on the top deck (with the best view) there were no speakers at all.

Stopovers in Mexico (2) were good, Costa Rica ok although not much to see in Puntarenas, unless you did a trip to the rain forest (which we didn't need, as we were in Peruvian rain forest last year), Guatemala and Columbia were very interesting, Colon in Panama was disappointing - would have been maybe more interesting to stop in Panama City.
But otherwise was a great cruise and enough sea days to be able to relax and enjoy the sunshine

Adequate - bed was very comfortable. Shower/bathroom fine. TV ok but not enough free channels (i.e. to watch movies/films). The fridge was not cold at all - needed ice for all drinks! However our steward was brilliant in delivering ice twice a day to the cabin. He (Lincoln) was very efficient and friendly.

Ship tip

We did only one excursion; the coach trip to La Antigua in Guatemala, which was just that - the coach trip with no sightseeing guide. This was fine, We prefer to discover places ourselves :-)
