Review summary

Ship and crew were great, veranda cabin was somewhat cramped, WiFi and Phone App glitchy. Activities and entertainment wonderful. Embarkation/Disembarkation perfect. Ports of Call - hit and miss.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went very quickly, we arrived slightly ahead of our scheduled time and were on board in what seemed minutes, very little waiting in line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I ate too much, there was plenty to try and I tried everything even some new items outside my usual fare.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My wife, mother in law and I were regulars in the casino, we tried Lawn Bowling, the indoor pool and hot tub. We also played Deal or no Deal and Bingo. My daughter met and and attended scheduled activities with onboard friends, and spent time in the pool, an outdoor movie and the silent disco. I saw a Movie and spent time in the library as well. My wife and mother in law also shopped and purchased several items as gifts and souvenirs.

Entertainment

We did not attend any shows, the musicians we passed in open areas, sounded very good.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My daughter (16yo) enjoyed the Teen activities and met new friends. This was her first cruise ans she is ready to go again.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I haven't sailed in over 20 years and didn't know what to expect with all the changes in the industry the last few years. I had sailed with Celebrity in the past and chose to do so again since I always liked the Celebrity's level of service back then. I was not disappointed at all. Edwin our room steward was great, as were our waiters Jose and Kundan. We wanted for nothing while on board.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
My mother in law was using a (wheeled) walker due to a bad hip. We avoided the cabin hallways where we could and used the elevator instead of the stairs. The staff accommodated us with stowing it in the dining area and other locations and it was a positive experience. The ship was clean and ongoing efforts to maintain that level even during high traffic times was evident. We had no trouble finding our way around after the typical day of orientation it takes to learn where things are. The basic internet was a puzzle to me and I work in IT. It was my understanding the basic WIFI allowed internet and email access. My experience was: Gmail didn't work, and neither did the internet. I did receive work related MS Teams messages (go figure) but could not respond. And all my apps notifications worked, but the app didn't. I did not take advantage of the tech services on board to see if this was due to a phone setting or if I did not understand what was provided. So it was frustrating but I didn't cruise to look at my phone anyway. The phone App also seemed a little glitchy. We had open seating and my daughter could make reservations on her phone (Apple) and I could not (Android). So we left our reservation for 5:45 each day instead of reserving based on our schedule which effectively defeated the purpose of selecting open seating.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This room was a veranda cabin with an obstructed view. I was ok with this and still enjoyed the view since it was a guaranteed room. Unfortunately it seemed all our suitcases and extra cushions seemed to end up in front of the sliding door and block access to the veranda limiting it's use and I would have made more use of the veranda under other circumstances. If I had paid full rate for the cabin, I don't think I would have done so again. The cabin was spotless and all the contents worked as expected except the power receptacle in the bathroom would not run the hairdryer.

Ship tip

Pace yourselves, don't try to do everything. There were issues with the Basic WIFI and the Phone App that we had to work around.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
This was our embarkation/debarkation point so we did not use any excursions available

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
No excursion, we walked the shopping area in the port and shopped for souvenirs.

Cozumel, Mexico

2 out of 5
No excursion, we walked the shopping area in the port and shopped for souvenirs. An employee of one of the shops (pharmacy) offered my daughter (16yo) a condom. Another shop (Jewelry) employee asked me if I would like to meet his sister. (I kid you not). We also took a taxi to the downtown area, and walked around and shopped, we had a great experience here. Before returning to the ship we stopped in a restaurant and had a snack, it was very reasonably priced and good tasting.

Bimini, Bahamas

3 out of 5
I did not disembark at Bimini, Others did and enjoyed it , but said the shopping opportunities were limited.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy, our luggage was easy to locate and we never had to wait in line to exit.

So glad to see you enjoyed the ship as much as I did when I cruised on it last September! Happy continued cruising!

I was on that same cruise with you. I agree with. The crew was great and very friendly. I thought Lewis and Bennie was fun. I did enjoy all the ports except Bimini. I did not go off the ship but the rest of my group did. They did not like the port at all. If you don't get the resort pass the only other option is the town which was dirty and run down.

I agree with the stateroom size on Equinox. I had a Concierge stateroom, and it felt cramped when my Steward showed up with my champagne and had to navigate around the small table.
