Review summary

Seems to be an older crowd on the cruise, The port’s definitely made the trip. Then Oasis indoor, temperature controlled pool was very nice. Sometimes you just had to wait for a chair. Nice ship. They are trying too hard, well all the cruise lines seem to be trying too hard, to funnel you towards spending more money in the specialty dining selections. The food is ok, just not like it was 7 to 8 years ago. And I also think they need some more entertainment choices.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were scheduled to get on board at 1pm, showed up at the terminal at 12:50, and was on the boat right at 1. The quickest and easiest embarkation I have ever had.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
It has never been more apparent in the difference of the quality of food between regular dining and specialty dining. I would give the Tuscan Grill 6 stars, but the fact it cost us an extra $150 brings it down a little. Could have saved some money pre booking it. Food at the buffet looked really good, but the taste didn’t keep up with the looks. The pizza was actually pretty good along with the pasta bar. The main dining room was good, but service was a little slow sometimes. I ended up getting the NY strip most nights.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
What shows they had were pretty good. Singers and dancers were great. Just remember the show Elysium is about the battle between good and evil and it will help it make a little more sense. Just didn’t seem to be a large enough selections. It was like you eat dinner and everyone had a choice of one show either at 7 or 9. Some other cruises I have been on had 3 and 4 things to choose from. I would have liked to see more comedians too, only one that did a total of 3 shows on a nine day cruise.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
See my comments for on board entertainment. Shows were 5 star, just not a large enough selection.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very friendly and helpful staff. Top notch as far as I’m concerned.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I loved the ship. This would have been 5 stars, except I had a chair break on me in the Celebrity Central Theater. There were a few other chairs with signs telling you not to use them. But hey, I am a 325 lb. man, but I would suspect it should have held.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Good and clean, near the front of the ship. Ample room for my 6’6” frame.

Ship tip

COVID is still out there, so be careful. I was told there were 78 cases on the cruise I just returned on. Also met a couple that the lady got sea sick and went to the ships medical for some Dramamine. She had to quarantine for 24 hours and missed Aruba. Any trip to the ship’s medical buys you a 24 hour quarantine. Bring your own medicine.

Ports of call

Oranjestad, Aruba

We ended up going to Eagle beach and spending the day. Great little island, just be prepared for the wind. It was gusting 25-30 MPH the day we were there. It did help keep you cool. I will advise to not forget your sunscreen. It is pricy on the island, $20-$25. It also seemed like the shirts at the port were cheaper here.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

Probably the less developed of the 3 ABC islands. But still beautiful. Purchased island tour with beach stop off at Sorobon Beach. Water there was just a little over knee deep with opportunity to sail and kite surf.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Didn’t have anything planned. Walked off the boat and purchased a tour of the island on an open air bus for $20. It took us to the 4 neighborhoods of Curaçao, the liquor factory for some free samples, then Mambo beach.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Great excursion. We used Captain Bryan charters pre-booked. Took us out in the middle of the ocean to snorkel, then swim with the rays at Stingray City. Finished up at Starfish beach.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Disembarkation

We carried our luggage out and was off the boat sitting in a taxi cab in 15 minutes. We started getting off the boat around 7:40.
