Review summary

We recently sailed on the Celebrity Equinox . The ship was beautiful, our Aqua class room was wonderful, along with our state room attendant, and the two speciality restaurants (Tuscan Grill and Silk Harvest) were outstanding! We really like Celebrity's style, and innovative ships, however, Celebrity has a way to go on offering overall great service to match their great ships, it put a damper on the overall cruise experience. We found the service levels to be inconsistent, especially at the bars. What was more frustrating is when we passed a crew member on the ship, 9 times out of 10 their were on cell phones. Not knowing if this was internal calls between crew members or the crew on personal calls, it was strange to see them on the phone, more often then not. Overall itinerary was great and we really enjoyed the 2 days at sea before and after all the ports of call. It was a great way to relax on both ends of the trip.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Main dining area, Blu and the buffet were just OK. But Tuscan Grill and the Silk Harvest restaurants were outstanding, both in service and in food. Buffet needs more variety - it was the same thing for both breakfast and lunch EVERY day! Like cruise lines that mix it up a bit.

Service and Staff

needs improvement overall. As mentioned above, outside our state room attendant and the staff in the speciality restaurants, need to work on the service levels and friendliness of the overall crew

Cabin / Stateroom

really enjoyed Aqua class rooms - especially the shower and the upgraded linens. Stateroom attendant, Alvin was really great.

Ports of call

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

6 ships in port so things were a bit crazy. If you are going to get off in St. Thomas, do a beach day and stay out of the downtown area - not worth it!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

what is not to like about this port! Love it!!

Bridgetown, Barbados

The east side of Barbados is beautiful!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

The crew we had on the sail, snorkel and beach lunch were great! However, I would recommend doing a snorkel trip on another island as we were very disappointed in the amount of fish and coral

Roseau, Dominica

5 out of 5
Beautiful island - very lush and tropical

Pros: Aqua class

Cons: inconsistent service levels from crew
