Review summary

Celebrity is not one of our usual go to cruise lines--but we hope to change that and go again on Celebrity. The areas that I particularly liked on this ship was the Magic Carpet. the jogging walking path, the Rooftop Garden area, and the Sunset Bar. The Magic Carpet area was one of our favorite places to just hang out and read. It's so relaxing because you are practically "hanging over" the ocean. On our cruise the magic carpet never moved. The jogging/walking path is not just an oval circle like on other ships--it meanders past interesting places such as the rooftop garden and spans about 3 decks--so much fun to view the ocean or port while getting exercise. Definitely one of my favorite places on the ship. We also enjoyed spending time at the Rooftop Garden seating area--where they broadcasted NFL football games. There were comfy chairs in a park like atmosphere. Every day--we went to the Sunset Bar at sunset--It was the place to be and that was where we were able to get our complimentary drinks due to our loyalty status on Royal Caribbean.

No problems--very efficient

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Celebrity has a unique set up for dining rooms--each one has a "specialty" and the buffet was excellent. We enjoyed trying each dining room and trying as many specialty restaurants as we could. Standouts were Le Petit Chef (for the entertainment--food was only OK) and Eden Restaurant. There is so much variety on this ship that you can't possibly get bored with the food.

Onboard Activities

Beautiful pool area.

Entertainment

Definitely above average.

Children's Programs

no children with us

Service and Staff

Service was excellent everywhere

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was beautiful. However I am giving it a 4/5 because there were many areas of the ship that we couldn't access because we only had a "basic" balcony cabin--no spa or aqua class. I don't like the upper class/lower class mentality on a ship. When you are walking around a ship and see an entire area behind locked doors with empty lounge chairs--it's irritating at least to me. My husband's attitude is that he's happy because he didn't have to pay for it. I think it bothers me because it's so much more "in your face" on the Edge class ships than on other ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I hated the infinite verandah--my husband loved it. It does make the room seem bigger. Everytime we opened the window the room got hot and humid. It took hours for the room to get cool again. I felt I couldn't use the balcony area in the AM when my husband slept in because I didn't want to wake him with the window lowering noise.

Ship tip

Sit and relax on the Magic Carpet--the best place on the ship!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

St. Maarten is always a nice place to visit. Plenty to do right at the port and easy transportation to beaches by water shuttle. I took a ship's tour that included visiting the French side of the island, Majo beach, the rum factory and the cheese factory. Haven't seen this comprehensive of a tour on other lines. Very enjoyable.

Glad you had a great time. We prefer Celebrity over Royal. We like the food, and the focus is less on slides, pools, etc.
