Review summary

Highly recommend, would have been an even better experience had the weather cooperated.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Hectic, a lot of passengers ignored given embarkation times causing an influx of passengers trying to get on board at the same time overwhelming port personnel.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Buffets hectic at peak times, main dining rooms mostly accessible at any time, and speciality restaurants mostly half filled to capacity.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Well equipped fitness center and attractive pool and nice sized solarium.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Outstanding evening shows, some of the best we have ever experienced on a cruise. Other venues had excellent singers and musicians for the most part.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the crew bent over backwards to accommodate us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Well designed and clean ship. Never did it feel like we were traveling with 2800 other passengers with the exception of disembarkation and embarkation at some ports.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Was very pleased with all of the above. We think the veranda balcony is a very innovative use of the space usually reserved for outdoors open air options only. Clever way of providing passengers Witt more air conditioned space with the feel of an open air balcony with the option of lowering the top half of a wall to wall floor to ceiling window.

Ship tip

Get ready for some nickel and dimming especially when seeking internet service.

Ports of call

Auckland, New Zealand Did not visit port

Went straight from the airport to the ship.

Tauranga, New Zealand

4 out of 5
Unless you were content to go to a beach, not a whole lot going on at this stop.

Napier, New Zealand

5 out of 5
We’re fortunate to visit when an art deco festival was going on. A good stop to book a winery excursion.

Picton, New Zealand

4 out of 5
Limited options to explore, nothing unique to this stop.

Lyttleton (Christchurch), New Zealand Did not visit port

Unfortunately due to windy weather conditions the port was shut down and we missed this stop.

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand

4 out of 5
Beautiful scenic views of the harbor, cure railway station building, nothing else that we experienced that stood out.

Cruise Dusky Sound

5 out of 5
Impressive sound cruising of this last day visiting New Zealand, particularly Milford Sound.

Cruise Doubtful Sound

5 out of 5
Same as above.

Cruise Milford Sound

5 out of 5
Most impressive of the 3 sounds we cruised this day.

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
Loved the city, clean and friendly and efficient people. Took a tour to the Blue Mountains, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, but could see the potential of a worthwhile full day excursion there and a lovely ferry ride back.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Much more organized than the embarkation, perhaps the efficiency of the Sydney port personnel had something to do with it.
