Overall a good ship however... by JPDawson

Ship: Celebrity Eclipse

Overall a good ship however just didn’t feel like the atmosphere was personally for me! It all seemed a bit too lax and for me I like a more upbeat atmosphere like some of the other cruises provide! On the contrary this is a beautiful ship and for those looking for a peaceful and pleasurable cruising experience then this is definitely a solid option.

p Amazing cruise, great ship and... by uniquename

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

p Amazing cruise, great ship and staff. We probably go with Celebrity again, any other cruise ship would be hard to live up too. The seas were a little rough the first two days but with a couple Bonine we were all set. The spa and fitness center were amazing. We did boot camp with Nate as the instructor and were defintily challenged. Great time for Boot Camp 10am.Great choices and selections of bars and restaurants something for everybody tastes and age groups. We enjoyed afternoon drinks at the pool bar and the aft bar wonderful views and not crowded. Our room was beautiful. Amazing bathrooms and great showers. Fresh fruit everyday in our rooms and our steward Jesus was attentive, and kept our cabin stocked and clean. p What I would change with our next cruise. I would go with the aqua package. I would have rather eaten at the blue. The main dining area was a little dissappointing. We ended up beingat 4 different tables during the cruise. Long story. Dinner was rather rushed and the food was average in the main dining area. I have had better main dining experiences with Princess and NCL. Other than that the cruise was perfect.

One of the best cruises I have been on. With the exception of Puerto Rico the itinerary/ports werre excellent. Had a great time. Would have liked a longer stay in St. Thomas.

Spotless Ship, Snappy Service by KevinB4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I was comfortable coming into this cruise that the service and food would be of a high quality. Celebrity Eclipse didn't disappoint in either category. Almost all staff members that we encountered offered a smile and genuine interest in making our stay aboard comfortable. Our waitstaff in the main dining room provided smiles and service particularly noteworthy. Humor was often the rule of the evening and our table was gifted by an outstanding team. Our only minor disappointments were encountered on deck when one pool area roaming bar waiter was less than enthusiastic or charming as he conducted his duties. We also struggled to get our order taken a couple of time at the admittedly busy Martini bar....we resolved this issue by retiring to a nearby cloistered cubby, where a waiter promptly took our order. In these days of concern about onboard safety, we were well educated and informed of procedures and skills of the staff in an emergency situation. We attended an informative discusssion on navigation and walked away very impressed with the profesionalism and high level of training and procedures established aboard the Eclipse. We would strongly recommend the ship and hope to travel with Celebrity again soon.

1984 MEETS CIRQUE-DE-SO-LAME by Newbie954

Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I was very excited about this cruise. I had only ever been on 2 Discovery Cruises to nowhere (gambling 4 hr cruises) before and EVERYone told me we would LOVE this cruise. My Sweetheart is from TX. He had never been on a cruise before in his life. My first clue was the peeling paint at the CELEBRITY X loading area. When we got on board after standing in a HUGE line we were handed (without being asked) glasses of a drink. Cheap lousy mimosas. I took one sip and hunted for a place to get rid of it. Things were fine until we saw the 'entertainment'. We went to the 'show' and I was appauled to see what was could certainly be described as Disney-Mormon-Dancers. It was the most hokey-cheap-bulloney - over the top junk- fest I have ever seen. Then a girl dressed like a Cirque-De-Sole has-been... Wearing a spandex one piece with fluorescent paint and 9, count them NINE irridescent hula-hoops. After she picked up the first one, I just KNEW she had to work with all 9 before she was done. I looked at my man and told him I'd meet up with him when it was over if he wanted to stay for it. The following 'entertainment' is in no particular order...Johnny Mantra- rock and roll Vegas wannabe has been. Celine Deon impersonator. OMG. BLOODY AWFUL. Acapella 4 some, barbershop quartet...WHY? Glass blowing by staffers, NOT artists....OMG, just SHOOT ME! An Anglo male singing 'Mister Bo Jangles' while another Anglo male did...I don't know what that was...cartwheels? Sheesh... I saw a woman who HAD to be 80 year old wearing a bikini and carrying a cane at the pool. I was told by the travel agent that the crowd would be more 'oler and more sophisticated'. NOOoooo....Just OLD! Tried the dance floor? OMG. DJ was the LAMEST wedding style DJ ever. Played: I Like Big Butts... and... You Gotta Move Like Jagger. .... Night after night after night... Even when we landed in St Martin...Move it Like Jagger. I go to an island to experience the island, , not to hear MORE American banal junk.

One reason for picking the ship was the high ratings. The ship did not live up to these expectations.

Eclipse did not live up to it's rating! by DebbiT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Felt the ship atmosphere was "bland" LobIster dinner was horrible. Had a hard time finding something to eat that didn't have sauces, reductions, etc. on it.( I'm not a picky eater either) not enough fun. 2 small pools outside which about 20 people each would fill and 1 indoor adults only. Not much outside in daytime to keep you active. Entertainment director was VERY boring. Ship is beautiful. Drink prices ridiculous and beverage packages VERY high.

Overall a good cruise to take by MaxB2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean

The route that this particular cruise took, San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten is a great route to go. Great market shopping on San Juan and excellent beaches at St. Thomas and St. Maarten. The ship is definitely for 50+ people. Very few 30's and lower 40's people were on the cruise out of 3,000 passengers. Most of the entertainment geared towards an older crowd. More calm, relaxed atmosphere, not much to do in late evening other than casino or the shows in the theater. I am a smoker, and if you are as well, beware, out of 16 decks there are only 5 smoking areas combined, most of the time requiring you to walk across the whole ship just to have a cigarette. If you are like me and like to hang out in a hot tub or the pool with couple of drinks around - not after 9PM. The whole 12-14th decks where the pool areas are as well as the pool bars and grills is closed. Everything moves down to the decks 4 and 5 where the casino, restaurants and bars are, which is more formal setting rather than relaxed setting. The ship itself is brand new. State rooms (we had a concierge-class balcony room) are amazing. From bed, to bathroom, to furnishing it is a very nice, contemporary-styled room that would surely please anyone. Wall-mounted LCD TV that can be tilted and turned towards the bed, nice work area if you had to bring your work with you, great leather couch, safe, plenty of power outlets. Nothing to possibly complain about. Rooms are cleaned and beds changed several times per day. Overall if you like a calmer cruise, with older people, this is definitely the cruise to go on. I would recommend it to my friends.

A Superb Cruising Experience by CliffS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had not cruised for 15 years, thus our expectations were dramatically exceeded with the Eclipse experience when compared to quality, etc. of 15 years ago. The experience cruising on the Eclipse has produced 2 travelers ( us ) who cannot wait to cruise again in the near future! Kudos to the Staff, Chefs and Preformers ....

The ship was awesome, accommodations roomy, neat, and welcoming. The entertainment areas and the photo op areas were something to look forward to. The casino was inviting and the night show was nice most of the time.

Not the best cruise by DesireeH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise and we were very disappointed by the food and the service. We were also charged for this we did not use and twice for a spa service. We also found additional gratuity charges on our statement that we did not add.
