Review summary

The cruise was like a loaf of bread. The crust is all but useless and the middle is great. The sights of the Antarctic are great! We will not sail out of Buenos Aires again. The buses used by Ferlong (sp) are so bad that they have a chase bus for when the tour bus breaks down. We lost an hour of tour time because of that. The ship, crew and staff lived up to the outstanding quality that the RCL family is known for.

Embarkation

RCL Dropped the ball. OK, understand storm damage to the port but that was NO excuse for their “Plan B”. They expected guests to line up for up to 3 city blocks on foot and with luggage for 14 day trip. Seniors and those with special needs had to stand in line for hours in 90 degree heat and some rain. No portable toilets or bottled water was available. RCL is better than that.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food and staff was outstanding.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Did the galley tour but found it a waste of time. Over 24 guests trying to get close enough to the Chef to hear what he was saying. All the while he was trying to talk over the clanging and banging of trays and dishes. The tour stopped just before the entrance to the dinning area. 15 more feet and we could have heard better.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
As usual, RCL does an outstanding job of show and travel talks.

Children's Programs

Kind of hard to talk about it when you don’t have kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was most welcoming and looked for ways to say “Yes” to any and all requests.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean in all public areas and the crew was constantly cleaning and wiping down handrails and other items touched by the guests.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Correct cabin #1202 (stern cabin). Attendant was most professional. Always a smile and asking if he can do more. The cabin was good enough given the type. We wish we could have found more storage but we made do.

Ship tip

Like any cruise. If you are physically able to do so, use the stairs -v- elevator if going 1 or 2 floors. Also consider what is gong on onboard. If there is an event at the theater then the forward elevators will be packed. Use the aft ones and reverse them at meal time.

Disembarkation

Again, RCL had no plan. There were guest leaving the ship and those coming on board trying to use the same space. There were no clear signs letting them know where to go and in fact, there were little to no lane markers putting people into lines. It was a mob experience. In addition, to retrieve bags the numbers were not clearly marked or in order. It turned to to a free for all to get bags with made the mob scene worse. It was so chaotic that our tour was delayed 2 hours thus missing points of interest that was offered in the tour write-up
