Review summary

This holiday of a lifetime incorporating our 7 day Alaskan cruise was so special it is so hard to put into words. The suite life it certainly was with all the perks and little extras make this cruise well worth the money having planned this cruise for 2 years my only slight disappointment was that the ship would have looked its best with a Revolutionised interior making a Retreat sun deck and Michaels Lounge that was very nice, into a Lovely bright Retreat Lounge, otherwise it was Celebrity cruising at its best well done Celebrity.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We embarked on our 7 night cruise from Vancouver having waited 2 years for our Alaskan cruise, and I new that everything depended on all our paperwork being correct and up to date with our allocated time slot of 11.30-12.00 Firstly as we where in Canada our Arrive Can app receipt was a must (printed and digital) then came our ETA (electronic travel authorisation) for Canada, then as we are going into U.S waters we required an ESTA (electronic system for travel authorisation) then finally our booster vaccination not forgetting our Negative covid test along with our Celebrity pass and pow we where on board. We then decided to check out our sky suite. We had originally booked an Aqua class cabin but decided on a Sky Suite based on what Celebrity were offering.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As a suite guest with Celebrity you automatically eat in the Luminae Restaurant where you enjoy the best food on the ship. We had also booked the famous Le Petit chef and the Tuscan grill. All the food was absolutely fantastic with great service, especially as one of our party was vegetarian and she commented that her food was exceptionally good.

Le Petit Chef at Qsine

5 out of 5

Great fun but also fabulous food served well in a great atmosphere.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the Golf on the sun deck ( what grass on a ship) the pool looked very inviting but we literally never got round to having a swim, every day we found something different to do or a excursion to enjoy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment on Celebrity was and is always top class from Topper to Rock city the singers and dances work so hard to give us such an amazing performance, and being a suite guest we also had reserved seating on chic nights from our retreat host Jamal.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had two sea days and Room service was very good with a full free menu around the clock (as a suite guest) The service we received was exceptional from Gilbert and Dewa along with Ali and our maitre d’ Aurica in Luminae Restaurant to Mike in Michaels club everyone was first class and just made the holiday so special. Jamal our Retreat Host could not do enough for us. Once again so special moments as a retreat guest were being allowed on the Helipad as we sailed into Icy strait point , along with meeting the captain and officers in Michaels club another perk of a Retreat Guest.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Although I was promised that the ship was supposed to be reveloutionized this has not happened so things were a little old and scruffy, however this did not stop us from enjoying the suite life to the full as all the ship was spotless and clean and as our friends were first time cruisers they thought it was all amazing💕

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our Sky Suite 8345 and our friends had the other corner suite 8336. Because this was a corner suite the extra space both inside and on the balcony was out of this world and on a cruise with such memorable mind blowing views that is exactly what you need the suite was always kept spotless by our stateroom attendant Akhilesh. We found the suite to be very comfortable and really full-filled all our needs from the bar to the large illuminated wardrobe to our beautiful bathroom with a superior shower and of course our wonderful Bvlgari toiletries finished off the whole showering experience.

Ship tip

If you can afford it book a Sky Suite and join the suite life for the money and the extra perks you will not be disappointed

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Months before the cruise we tried to book the Helicopter tour with Celebrity in Juneau as the website would not allow us to utilise our excursion credit we decided not to book at that point in time, having changed our minds a month later( yes you guessed it) all the helicopter excursion was fully booked, We then decided to book a Helicopter and dog sledding with Alaska shore excursions which was a lot better value for money as it’s payment was in dollars and was out of this world and totally a 5 star excursion experience, so glad we did not miss this as it was a total bucket list once in a lifetime excursion.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
The views from the ship where just out of this world as we sailed so close to the Hubbard Glacier thanks to an amazing captain (Leo) the air was so fresh the ice was so blue and the calving was stupendous from the colour of the water to the seals jumping off the mini ice bergs to the unusual blue sky.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
We departed from a two day stay in Gold Leaf via the Rocky Mountaineer prior to our stay at the 5 star Sutton place Hotel for 3 days in Vancouver before our cruise and I can understand why people enjoy living there. We did lots of things there such as a Sea Plane jaunt,a walk round Stanley Park, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and Grenville Island. Vancouver is definitely one for the bucket list.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Yes what an excursion,we did our Blackbird Hovercraft eco-adventure & wildlife quest, was unbelievably amazing we went out looking for wildlife and ended up feeding fish to Bald Eagle’s having them swoop down in front of us feeding on fish what an experience the sea was very calm but the tide was in meaning no beach landing very well narrated tour and a wonderful experience all in all a great day all round. This meant we had been on most modes of transportation Aeroplane, coach, seaplane, Helicopter, dog slaying, cruise ship, Gondola and Hovercraft the hi-lights of this holiday just keep coming.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

What a nice relaxing day with a lie in bed followed by some great room service

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
An amazing view from the gondola and a walk round bear territory.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was also done extremely well with priority disembarkation our Luminae Restaurant open from 6.30 to 7.30 then on to Michaels lounge for our 15 minutes waiting till we were escorted off the ship at 8.30 another great example of a suite life guest.
