The scenery was incredible! Wished the ship would have implemented better health and safety practices. It’s all about business. Covid is still alive and well on the ships.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Lots of protocols resulting in long lines. Three separate ships embarking at the same time and terminal. Despite arriving at designated time, embarkation took about an hour.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Both specialty restaurants were excellent : Tuscan Grill and Le Petit Chef. Le Petit Chef was very entertaining. Buffets were average and would like to have experienced better quality food. Also, safety protocols not put in place. People serving themselves and I observed some hadn’t sanitized their hands prior to arriving. Main dining rooms has good selections. Not sure why lobster night was not on the last day of cruise. It was held the day before when many people were not returning until late from their excursions.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Didn’t really participate due to Covid being onboard the ship. Conditions were often crowded and no masking required. I did enjoy the glass blowing as it was a more personal experience.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Went to the theatre once and really did not enjoy the Celebrity performers. Had hoped Celebrity would have provided something of a more cultural experience such as bringing native performers on board.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
All staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. However, I did not see the captain even once. He did not seem to be very visible unlike other Celebrity ships I have been on. In addition, Celebrity is not very forthcoming about the number of Covid cases on board. Four members with whom I was travelling with contracted Covid and became very ill on day 5. Celebrity doesn’t tell you this but there is a red zone for quarantine. Lots of Covid on board!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Overall very clean. Cabin could use an upgrade.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Needs to be updated. Bed uncomfortable and pillows not very soft. Overall cleanliness okay.
Ship tip
Don’t be surprised if you get ill. People get off the ship for excursions and become exposed. For example, there are no mask mandates when riding a bus. People enter bars and shops and become exposed in crowded indoor areas and bring the virus back on the ship.
Lovely city to explore . Be sure to visit Gastown, Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Hop on hop off was just okay but will give you a sense of the city.
Took a very crowded bus to see the Medenhall Glacier followed by a salmon bake. During our hike we saw a baby bear! Excursion would have been perfect had it not been for the uncomfortable ride on an old stuffy bus with no AC. Overall, stunning scenery.
A cute little town where you could do some shopping for souvenirs. Be sure to take a shuttle into town to get the full experience. Gondola ride was enjoyable.
If testing and tracking would be done on passenger planes, airports, shopping malls concerts, ballgames etc. you would find that it is alive and well in many other places than cruise ships. Of course the only thing the CDC is interested in tracking covid on cruise ships.
