Review summary

This was our first cruise so we really didn't know what to expect. Again, the entire staff ensured we wanted for nothing. Despite the advice we were given, we to an inside stateroom (cost was the motivating factor) and have absolutely no regret in doing so. Our rationale is, take an inside stateroom and apply the savings towards another cruise (which is exactly what we did). The food, the entertainment, the ports-of-call, everything about this holiday was fabulous.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very quick and extremely efficient. I was fully expecting it to take much longer than it did.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We took most of our meals at the MDR. Service and quality of the food was top-notch. Our 1st night we did have a reservation at the Tuscan Grille. That was right up there with one of the finest meals we have ever had. The buffet was very good however we used it mostly for the odd breakfast and a late night snack.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The only real activity we participated in was the shopping presentation. Sufficed to say, that's 1.5 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was outstanding especially the production shows.

Children's Programs

We travelled without children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every staff member from our room steward to our MDR waitstaff did everything in their power to ensure we wanted for nothing.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was our first cruising experience so as far as layout/design is concerned we've nothing with which to compare it. That said, the ship appeared very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were actually expecting it to be smaller than it was. Layout was efficient and there was adequate storage.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia Did not visit port

We are originally from BC and have visited Vancouver on several occasions. We drove to the port and got right on the ship.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Fabulous scenery through the inside passage.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

4 out of 5
Not an awful lot to do here but a nice place to wander around. Again, beautiful scenery.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
In a word, "fantastic".

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Mendenhall glacier and surrounding area was nice but the DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery was a bit of a letdown.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
This was our favorite port to visit. Such an interesting city.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
As quick and efficient as embarkation.
